  14. Rank 113. Delancey

    Pizzeria

Delancey is a wood-fired pizzeria in Ballard where the pies come out charred and the room runs on tea candles and the smell of the oven. You can sit down for natural Austrian bubbles and a mountain of romaine salad and call it dinner, though ordering a pizza seems to be the point. It works for a date or a family table, and the chef was a James Beard semifinalist for Best Chef: Northwest and Pacific.

  15. Rank 113. Hamdi

    Turkish

Cooks wield handheld fans to coax heat from a fire-only range, which tells you what kind of restaurant Hamdi is before a dish arrives. The chef came up through a three-Michelin-star kitchen in California, and the Turkish menu, pide, kebap, kofte, and a 42-day dry-aged porterhouse, carries that technique without tipping into fussiness. Prices are ambitious, and the kitchen knows it. Ballard's most serious dinner out.

  17. A plain wooden door down a sketchy Belltown alley opens into a speakeasy-style cocktail bar that fits maybe thirty people across two floors. Upstairs, the intimate bar puts you shoulder-to-shoulder with shelves stacked with cocktail books. The menu runs to eight drinks, but the move is Dealer's Choice: name your spirit, name your mood, and let the bartender figure out the rest.

  20. Rank 117. Grann

    BBQ-Indian fusion Cajun & Creole

Deep-fried puri shells arrive golf-ball-size and hollow, packed with cool pimento cheese softened by sweet onion jam, and that alone explains why Tacoma's Grann has Seattle making the drive south. The restaurant calls itself Southern BBQ, Creole, and Indian fusion, but the food lands somewhere past hyphenation, like a cuisine that simply grew up that way. Dramatic green walls and a tiger photograph that somehow matches the room give the dining room real personality.

  22. The dark oak bar counter twists through the room like it couldn't decide where to stop, with booths opposite and vintage paneling that makes the whole place feel like it's been here forever. It's a steakhouse bar in Ballard's old commercial strip, and while drinks are the stated purpose, the kitchen has a way of making that position hard to defend. Difford's Guide gives it five stars.

  26. Rank 126. Barrracuda

    Contemporary Pizzeria

The dough at this contemporary Messina pizzeria goes through a long fermentation that gives each base a noticeably different aroma from the standard Neapolitan crowd. The "Specials" menu is where the kitchen makes its argument, and the fried appetizers lean artisanal rather than afterthought. The wine list tilts local. Three r's in the name, which either signals confidence or a typo that stuck, and the room seems to lean toward the former.

  32. Beans sourced from Coffee Collective in Copenhagen anchor the menu at this coffee shop on 1st Ave South, where the space is all clean lines, blocky type, and royal blue plastic stools that somehow look intentional. The crowd skews artsy and laptop-laden, with a side of Seattleites in skinny sunglasses who came to work and stayed to stare into the middle distance. Bright, unhurried, and very Scandinavian about it all.

  37. A firepit on the patio and shared tables set the tone at this lively Asian street-food spot in Tacoma, where the menu pulls from Thai curries to Korean kimchi barbecue without planting a flag in any single tradition. The crispy rice salad with sausage has a following. Cocktails get serious attention, which separates it from the quieter sit-down sibling it spun off from. New owners took over in 2025, and the regulars, having briefly panicked, have since relaxed.

  39. Durian tiramisu is either the bravest or most reckless dessert call in Fremont, and Kin Len commits to it without apology. This dim, chic Thai restaurant and bar reads like a stylish neighborhood spot until the food arrives and reframes the whole thing. The menu swings wide, from spicy octopus carpaccio to banana blossom fries, and the cocktails keep pace. They do serve pad Thai, but it comes draped in oversize river prawns, just so you know where you stand.

  45. A small pasta counter tucked above the Pike Place Market Atrium, where the menu changes every couple of weeks based on whatever the market has going. The lasagna stays, the tomato sauce pasta stays, and everything else rotates through combinations like pappardelle with venison ragù or gemelli with caramelized pears and gorgonzola. The chef grew up in Turin, and it shows in the kind of quiet confidence that pairs orecchiette with Penn Cove mussels without making a fuss about it.

  46. Rank 126. PizzBurgh

    Neapolitan Pizzeria

A cocktail bar beside the oven is the first signal that PizzBurgh is doing something a bit different. This Messina pizzeria runs through the full format card, red, white, fried, pala, padellino, and the big wheel-shaped ruota di carro, all built on high-hydration doughs with long fermentation times that keep things soft without going slack. The outdoor terrace fills up quickly, and 50 Top Pizza lists it among Italy's excellent pizzerias.

  49. Rank 126. Serious Pie

    Pizzeria

Slightly oval pies, sliced into four and built on a crispy, well-balanced crust, are the whole philosophy here. Serious Pie is a wood-warmed pizza restaurant in Seattle's financial district, comfortable enough for a working lunch and relaxed enough for an evening with friends. Private rooms handle the business-event crowd without making the main room feel corporate. The wine list pulls its weight.

  50. Rank 126. Spark Pizza

    Neapolitan Pizzeria

A Redmond pizza shop doing something genuinely tricky: making a Neapolitan-leaning crust that doesn't alienate the kid who just wants pepperoni. The dough is airy and light, and the menu ranges from classics to specials to a Sunday-only New York style, a range designed so that nobody at the table has to negotiate. Named among 50 Top Pizza USA's excellent pizzerias, it draws the kind of crowd where everyone finds something and nobody feels like they compromised.

  52. A sourdough pizza shop in a coal-mining hamlet so small that downtown is basically a dive bar, a coffee shop, and this place. The chef makes only so much crust each day, so on summer weekends the kitchen sells out within 90 minutes of opening, and the line forms knowing full well it might not matter. A brussels sprouts and bacon pie has been on the menu since day one and shows no signs of leaving.

  53. Heather Earnhardt's Southern-inflected restaurant now lives inside a historic coastal hotel in Tokeland, having migrated from its Capitol Hill origins. Cozy breakfast anchors the day, surrounded by farmhouse antiques and tchotchkes that feel genuinely accumulated rather than styled. Big buttery biscuits and fried chicken carried over from the original, joined by fried oysters from nearby Willapa Bay and local fish gone cornmeal-and-grits.

  58. Rank 126. Xi'an Noodles

    Chinese Noodle Shop

Biang biang noodles get their name from the sound of dough being slapped against the counter, and at this cozy noodle shop on the Ave, that wide, chewy ribbon is the whole reason you're here. The chef has been setting the local standard for years, dressing them in cumin lamb, tingly beef, or just chile oil, which turns out to be enough. Named one of Seattle Met's 50 Best Restaurants, with a second location in Bellevue if you're on that side of the lake.

  62. Rank 162. Ba Bar

    Vietnamese

The pho broth here simmers for a full day on marrow bones, and you can taste the patience in it. Ba Bar is a Vietnamese restaurant and bar where the cocktail menu leans into tamarind and orgeat without taking itself too seriously, which matters when you're also ordering chicken wings. The New York Times named it one of Seattle's 25 best restaurants. The South Lake Union location keeps reasonable hours; the original Capitol Hill spot runs until midnight.

  67. The cinnamon rolls are vegan, which almost feels like a dare. This Madison Valley vegetarian restaurant has been the city's plant-based anchor for what feels like forever, drawing brunch crowds for veg scrambles and rosemary biscuits drowned in savory gravy alongside dinner plates that tend to quiet the table no matter who ordered the steak down the street. A plant-filled atrium and a year-round patio make the room easy to linger in.

Margaritas come in disco balls, Jell-O shots taste like homemade jam, and pimento cheese arrives on fried saltines. The steamed burger at happy hour has a cult following among people who take their diner food seriously while pretending not to.

  74. The chef sources so locally he's reportedly knocked on strangers' doors to ask about their gardens, and his mom's plot is in regular rotation. The result is a Northwest New American restaurant on Alki Beach where essentially everything on the plate comes from Washington state, no California citrus allowed. The bar runs the same way and is worth the trip on its own, and the desserts have drawn their own devoted following.

  81. Rank 162. Itsumono

    Japanese Cocktail Bar

The menu calls itself "mukokuseki," a Japanese word for stateless, which is one way to describe a Scotch egg that riffs on Hawaiian loco moco with a side of mac salad. This International District izakaya keeps the menu rotating, but the throughline is confident genre collision: fried pork katsu sando tucked into garlic shokupan with spaghetti marinara and mozzarella. The New York Times named it among Seattle's best, and the shochu highball list gives you something to do while you figure out what just happened.

  84. Rank 162. Korochka Tavern

    Eastern European Cocktail Bar

The name comes from a childhood nickname meaning "heel of the bread," which tells you something about the spirit of the place. This Wallingford cocktail bar leans into a Soviet parlor aesthetic, all floral upholstery and earthy glassware, with a drinks list built around beets, birch syrup, mushrooms, and green walnut. Slavic snacks fill the gaps between rounds. For purists, a horseradish vodka shot is on the menu and waiting to have a word with you.

  85. Rank 162. Lariat Bar

    Dive Bar

A miniature wrestling ring doubles as the karaoke stage, which tells you everything about the Lariat Bar's priorities. This White Center dive is floor-to-ceiling WWE memorabilia with an actual craft cocktail menu, a combination that shouldn't work as well as it does. The nonalcoholic drinks are listed under "Kayfabe," a wrestling term for keeping the fiction alive, which is either the nerdiest menu label in Seattle or the most honest one.

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. The places are 60% of it: the best of what's within reach, weighed by distance. The setting is the other 40%: how life goes in that country (how people rate their own lives, how long and how well they live, how safe they are) and what it's like right there (the air, and the weather). If the score looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
