The best Thai food in Switzerland, according to the experts: the Michelin Guide has weighed in, and their honors are what rank this list. Alpenblick - Bistro comes out on top, and the good stuff runs deepest in Zürich and Geneva.

  1. Rank 1. Alpenblick - Bistro

    Regional Thai Bistro

The Thai red curry on a menu anchored to Bernese regional produce tells you something about the bistro's mood: relaxed, a little unpredictable, not trying to be the hotel's fancier restaurant upstairs. This is a casual sit-down spot with a Michelin Bib Gourmand, market-driven cooking, and prices that won't sting. The covered terrace out front earns its place in summer, and the wine list punches above the room's register.

  2. A buzzy, casual Thai restaurant in Geneva's Plainpalais quarter where everything is made from scratch and the kitchen does not coast on pad thai familiarity. The Michelin Guide gave it a Bib Gourmand, and the room fills fast enough that booking is advised even at lunch. A few pavement tables appear in summer. The crowd skews local and returning, which tells you something.

  5. Rank 3. Soi 28 by Heilemann

    Thai Noodle Shop

The compact room fits maybe twenty people, which means the counter seats go fast and the outdoor spots in the pedestrian zone go even faster. This is a street food spot channeling the sharing-table energy of an Asian night-market alley, with a short menu built around baos, ramen, and the kind of sticky rice with mango that makes you wonder why you'd ever order anything else. Named after the chef behind the Michelin-starred kitchen upstairs, but priced and paced like a neighborhood find.

Eat Score

The score comes from the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin star outweighs a listicle. When you sort by what's nearby, distance changes the order, never the score.

      Stay Score

Four fifths of the score is the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin Key outweighs a listicle. The last fifth is where it is: the ranked places to eat and things to do around it, and how safe the country is. When you sort by what's nearby, distance from you changes the order, never the score.

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. The places are 60% of it: the best of what's within reach, weighed by distance. The setting is the other 40%: how life goes in that country (how people rate their own lives, how long and how well they live, how safe they are) and what it's like right there (the air, and the weather). If the score looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
