  4. Rank 260. Kodawari Ramen - Yokochō

    Japanese Noodle Shop

The wheat for the noodles is grown and milled in-house, which is either very dedicated or a little obsessive, and probably both. This ramen shop on rue Mazarine dresses itself up as a Tokyo back alley, lanterns and all, and somehow it doesn't feel embarrassing. Broths run from clean shio to deeper shoyu, and the black sesame kurugoma bowl is the one regulars keep coming back for. It holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand. Go early or late; midday it fills fast.

  13. A standing-room wine and snack bar wedged next to Yves Camdeborde's famous Saint-Germain bistro, this little sibling runs on oysters, anchovies, boudin noir, and whatever else the kitchen feels like playing with that evening. The menu reads like a party where nobody agreed on a theme, which turns out to be exactly right. You'll be pressed against strangers holding a glass of natural wine, and you won't mind at all.

  30. This is a small, family-run Korean restaurant in Saint-Germain that treats the cuisine as something more than barbecue or street food, and it holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand. The kimchi arrives mounded on a handmade-looking ceramic plate, polite and slightly proud. A lone chef works the kitchen, so solo diners can take a bar seat and watch plates leave one at a time, while couples and groups get tables with some breathing room.

  39. The painted ceiling and Art Nouveau tilework make it easy to forget your menu exists, which would be a shame because Cyril Lignac's kitchen leans into fish and seafood with real conviction. This Parisian bistro in the 11th has the bones of a classic and the cooking of someone who isn't interested in coasting on them. The lobster roll and the millefeuille have both become regulars' standing orders.

Scraped walls, waxed concrete, and mottled mirrors set the tone in this 11th-arrondissement restaurant, where the chef spent years cooking in Japan before passing through the kitchens of Bruno Verjus and Bertrand Grébaut. A single blind tasting menu runs France headlong into Japan, Mont-Saint-Michel cockles alongside Cantabrian anchovies, sauces that are technically involved but land with real clarity. A wine list approaching 400 labels is an unusually serious cellar for such an unassuming room.

Eat Score

The score comes from the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin star outweighs a listicle. When you sort by what's nearby, distance changes the order, never the score.

      Stay Score

Four fifths of the score is the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin Key outweighs a listicle. The last fifth is where it is: the ranked places to eat and things to do around it, and how safe the country is. When you sort by what's nearby, distance from you changes the order, never the score.

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. The places are 60% of it: the best of what's within reach, weighed by distance. The setting is the other 40%: how life goes in that country (how people rate their own lives, how long and how well they live, how safe they are) and what it's like right there (the air, and the weather). If the score looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
