The best Greek food in Canada, according to the experts: Air Canada, Vancouver Magazine, and the Michelin Guide have all weighed in, and their honors are what rank this list. Selene comes out on top, and the good stuff runs deepest in Toronto and Vancouver.
More Less
Nammos and Hydra Estiatorio Mediterranean hold the next two places. AAA shows up on more of this list than any other guide, with Vancouver Magazine next.

Rank 1. Selene
Fine-dining Greek
The oyster mushroom souvlaki arrives with walnut skordalia and tarragon vinegar, which tells you pretty quickly that this isn't the whitewashed-walls-and-ouzo setup you've been to before. Selene is a fine-dining Greek restaurant in Hastings-Sunrise that takes the canon seriously enough to know exactly where to bend it. Vancouver Magazine gave it a Gold Medal for Best Mediterranean, and the room has earned the quiet confidence that comes with it.

Rank 2. Nammos
Greek
Whitewashed walls, bare wood tables, and azures accents that make Fraser Street feel briefly like a ferry ride away. Nammos is a sit-down Greek restaurant where the kitchen sticks to the classics without treating them as an afterthought. Spanakopita arrives with properly shatteringly phyllo, the seafood is the thing to order, and loukoumades come drizzled in honey and walnut at the end. The Michelin Guide has it on their list.

Hand-painted murals of Greek village scenes cover every wall of this family-run Greek restaurant in Burlington, which sets the tone before anyone's even opened the menu. The room runs big and the menu runs bigger, with stuffed grape leaves, flaming cheese, and mixed kebab platters in sizes calibrated for groups that showed up hungry. Save room for the baklava.

Rank 8. Le Mezzé
Greek
Le Mezzé is a family-run Greek taverna on the edge of Montcalm, boxy and comfortable in the way a place is when the family would rather spend their effort on the food than the decor. The menu goes well past the Greek salad and moussaka, and the wine list leans toward retsina and bottles from the Peloponnese and Limnos. Regulars order lamb chops or a whole fish by the pound, then finish with baklava made in-house by one of the owners.
