The best Spanish food in Mexico, according to the experts: MexBest, Time Out, and The Infatuation have all weighed in, and their honors are what rank this list. La Cocina del Bizco comes out on top, and the good stuff runs deepest in Mexico City and San Miguel de Allende.
More Less
Restaurante Danubio and La Barra de Fran hold the next two places. MB100 shows up on more of this list than any other guide, with The Infatuation next.

Rank 1. La Cocina del Bizco
Spanish
This Spanish taberna skips the dark wood and hanging hams for bright white walls and enough air to linger for hours. It doubles as a market, and much of what ends up on the plate is shipped in from Spain. The house vermouth comes on tap, the arroz meloso arrives rich and creamy, and the '80s and '90s Spanish pop will have you inventing a Eurail trip you never took.

Rank 3. La Barra de Fran
Spanish
A bull's head greets you at the door, which is one way to make the menu clear before you've even sat down. This is a Spanish tapas bar in Polanco, modeled on the kind of place in Madrid where nobody eats alone and the anchovies come on toast with oil and tomato because they don't need to be anything more complicated than that. Classic patatas bravas, gambas al ajillo, flan, everything sized for the table.

Rank 6. Blanco Castelar
Spanish
A 1940s mansion in Polanco sets the stage for this multi-floor Spanish restaurant, where the kitchen takes an updated approach to the cuisine rather than a museum-piece one. The chef runs a seven-course tasting menu alongside a broader à la carte selection. Thursday through Saturday the kitchen stays open until 2 a.m., which is either a bonus or the whole point, depending on your evening.

Rank 7. Luna Tapas Bar
Tapas Bar
Perched on the roof of the Rosewood Hotel, this tapas and cocktail bar has one of the more disarming views in town: the Baroque towers of the Parroquia de San Miguel against the Bajío plateau, best appreciated at golden hour with one of the bar's margaritas in hand. The tapas are the right kind of excuse to stay for another round, and the crowd tends to lean into that logic. Dress like you're going somewhere.
