The best Korean food in London, according to the experts: the National Restaurant Awards, the Michelin Guide, and The Infatuation have all weighed in, and their honors are what rank this list. Miga comes out on top.

More Less

Sollip and Calong hold the next two places. The Michelin Guide shows up on more of this list than any other guide, with the National Restaurant Awards next.

  1. Rank 1. Miga

    Korean

The bone broth recipe alone has been in the family for generations, which tells you most of what you need to know about this bright, airy Korean restaurant on Mare Street. Dad runs the open kitchen while his sons work the room, and a mural outside traces the whole culinary lineage back to Seoul. The menu is modern Korean without being showy about it, and the Michelin Bib Gourmand keeps the crowds loyal without tipping the place into self-importance.

  2. Rank 2. Sollip

    Creative Korean

Pastel walls and near-silence greet you inside this Southwark fine-dining room, a useful antidote to the railway arches outside. A Korean husband-and-wife team run the kitchen, folding techniques from European stints into flavours from home, and the result is a set menu that earns Sollip its Michelin star without announcing itself too loudly. The cooking is precise and quietly inventive, the kind where the surprise lands before you've spotted it coming.

  3. Rank 3. Calong

    Korean

A small, casual Korean-inflected bistro on Stoke Newington Church Street, where a blackboard menu mixes European cooking with quietly assertive Korean flavour. The chef ran the kitchen at Galvin at Windows before trading that postcode for this one, and the shift shows in food that's technically grounded but unfussy. The fried chicken has been on since day one for a reason. A Michelin Bib Gourmand, and priced like the neighbourhood means it.

  4. Some tables come fitted with their own barbecue grill, which sets the tone at this family-run Korean restaurant in Merton. You cook pork belly, short ribs, or Wagyu at your own pace, while the rest of the room works through bansang sets: a main like fried chicken or grilled mackerel flanked by three side dishes and kimchi that earns the praise heaped on it. The matcha crème brûlée is a quietly confident closer. It holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand.

Eat Score

The score comes from the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin star outweighs a listicle. When you sort by what's nearby, distance changes the order, never the score.

      Stay Score

Four fifths of the score is the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin Key outweighs a listicle. The last fifth is where it is: the ranked places to eat and things to do around it, and how safe the country is. When you sort by what's nearby, distance from you changes the order, never the score.

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. The places are 60% of it: the best of what's within reach, weighed by distance. The setting is the other 40%: how life goes in that country (how people rate their own lives, how long and how well they live, how safe they are) and what it's like right there (the air, and the weather). If the score looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
