Java Blend has been roasting its own beans in Halifax's North End forever, and the cafe wears that history without making a fuss about it. The menu runs from single-origin drip to flat whites, in sizes from a sensible 8oz all the way to a 20oz option that suggests a very long commute. Steve-O-Reno's is an artsy, cozy coffee shop on the edge of downtown Halifax, pulling cappuccinos and macchiatos from Nova Scotia beans alongside a brunch menu that runs to fish chowder and Montreal bagels with lox. This is a casual New York pizza joint doing three styles: classic New York, Sicilian, and Detroit.
