  35. Four communal tables under chandeliers, surrounded by the chef's personal vintage collection, sets the mood at this cosy Thai café in Chiang Mai. The menu roams across regional styles, with gutsy, vivid flavours doing most of the talking, and the kitchen is particular about sourcing. A complimentary pandan pudding closes things out. It holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand.

  49. A 19th-century shophouse in Phuket old town sets the scene for this Southern Thai restaurant, where the decor runs vintage and the cooking runs in the family, literally across generations. The Michelin Bib Gourmand goes to a menu built on recipes nobody wrote down because nobody needed to. Expect bold, funky flavors and the kind of pork belly that makes you reconsider everything you ordered before it arrived.

  66. The smell of charcoal-grilled sausages hits you before you reach the door of this family-run shophouse restaurant in Khon Kaen. The kitchen turns out traditional Isan pork and beef, sun-dried beef slices, spicy sour beef shank soup, and the grilled beef tongue that regulars know to reserve ahead. It's an old-school institution, priced the way neighborhood places used to be, and it holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand.

  97. A row of steel lockers in an alleyway off Thonglor is the door, which tells you everything about the vibe inside this tiny speakeasy. The cocktail menu works through pop culture decades, so you might sip something with foam styled after a Troll doll's hair while Cyndi Lauper plays overhead. It's dark, a little absurd, and completely in on the joke. The Infatuation named it one of Bangkok's 20 best bars.

  98. Wild honey sourced from gatherers across Thailand is the organizing principle of this cocktail bar on Rama IV, and the team takes that brief seriously. Every drink tests how far the ingredient can stretch before tipping sweet, which turns out to be further than expected. The beeswax mug holding the Eastern Honey is a prop worth keeping intact. Difford's Guide lists it, and The Infatuation put it on their Bangkok bar roundup.

  99. Rank 197. The Bamboo Bar

    Cocktail Bar

Tiger-skin prints and bamboo furniture set the tone at this hotel bar inside Bangkok's Mandarin Oriental, where the house cocktail menu draws its flavors from Thailand's five regions. It's been a fixture of the city's live jazz scene for long enough that the sightlines to the stage feel deliberate. Stylish bartenders in leather aprons take it seriously, which helps, given that the room is already doing a lot of atmospheric heavy lifting on its own.

  100. Rank 200. Charmgang

    Contemporary Thai

The name loosely translates to "curry bowl," which tells you most of what you need to know. This contemporary Thai restaurant sits in a dimly lit back alley off Charoenkrung, the kind of address you only find by having the right friend. The team trained under David Thompson at Nahm, and the monthly rotating menu shows it: Thai cooking nudged forward without being made unrecognizable. The curries anchor everything, as they should.

Eat Score

The score comes from the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin star outweighs a listicle. When you sort by what's nearby, distance changes the order, never the score.

      Stay Score

Four fifths of the score is the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin Key outweighs a listicle. The last fifth is where it is: the ranked places to eat and things to do around it, and how safe the country is. When you sort by what's nearby, distance from you changes the order, never the score.

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. The places are 60% of it: the best of what's within reach, weighed by distance. The setting is the other 40%: how life goes in that country (how people rate their own lives, how long and how well they live, how safe they are) and what it's like right there (the air, and the weather). If the score looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
