The best Chinese food in Thailand, according to the experts: The 50, the Michelin Guide, and the Chinese Restaurant Awards have all weighed in, and their honors are what rank this list. Restaurant POTONG comes out on top, and the good stuff runs deepest in Bangkok.

More Less

Kolun.h and Pae Brass Pot Porridge 38 Years hold the next two places. The Michelin Guide shows up on more of this list than any other guide, with The 50 next.

  1. Chef Pam Soontornyanakij runs this fine-dining tasting menu out of a restored Chinatown apothecary building, five stories of family history pressed into service for one of the more quietly ambitious meals in Bangkok. The food moves through Thai-Chinese culinary memory, aged duck and crab roe alongside pandan and tamarind, in courses named for feelings rather than ingredients. It holds a spot on the World's 50 Best Restaurants list, and Pam took the World's Best Female Chef in 2025.

  6. Each xiao long bao is folded exactly 18 times, which is either comforting or alarming depending on how you feel about consistency. This Taiwanese dumpling chain has been around forever and operates on a global scale, with its Bangkok outpost sitting inside Central Embassy. The room is canteen-bright and unfussy, the steamed pork dumplings are the reason to queue, and the slow-simmered chicken soup is a serious argument for broth.

Peking duck roasted over lychee wood is the thing to know about Nan Bei, a Chinese restaurant on the 19th floor of the Rosewood Hotel with views across Bangkok that make it hard to focus on the menu. The kitchen pulls from both northern and southern Chinese traditions, flying in ingredients accordingly. Counter seats face the roasting station if you want to watch. Dim sum runs at lunch for a more casual visit.

Eat Score

The score comes from the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin star outweighs a listicle. When you sort by what's nearby, distance changes the order, never the score.

      Stay Score

Four fifths of the score is the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin Key outweighs a listicle. The last fifth is where it is: the ranked places to eat and things to do around it, and how safe the country is. When you sort by what's nearby, distance from you changes the order, never the score.

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. The places are 60% of it: the best of what's within reach, weighed by distance. The setting is the other 40%: how life goes in that country (how people rate their own lives, how long and how well they live, how safe they are) and what it's like right there (the air, and the weather). If the score looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
