  1. Rank 202. L’OLIVA

    Pizzeria

Tucked down a lane off Sukhumvit Soi 36, L'Oliva splits its identity across restaurant, wine bar, and pizzeria without losing focus on any of them. The dough leans contemporary, with a puffed, assertive crust, and the menu runs from pasta and risotto through classic and gourmet pies. The wine list holds its own at prices that won't cause a scene. It ranked 20th on 50 Top Pizza Asia-Pacific, if you need a reason to make the detour.

  2. The wood-fired oven takes up most of the room, which tells you immediately where your attention should be. This is a compact Bangkok pizza spot tucked into the Park Lane residential complex in Ekkamai, run by an American expat who followed love to Thailand and brought his dough obsession along. Naturally leavened crust with a pronounced char and real crunch, a daily menu built around what's good right now, housemade desserts, and a small single malt selection rounding things out.

  22. Khorat cuisine is the draw here, a regional Thai style that most Bangkok restaurants quietly ignore. Baannok takes the characteristically sweet Northeastern cooking and dials it back just enough for a wider audience without losing the herbs and spice that give Isan food its edge. The wok-fried noodle dish with river prawn is a regular order for a reason. Book ahead, the room doesn't absorb walk-ins gracefully.

  26. A large open-air Thai restaurant built over a pond, where the fish stay in the water until you order them. Tables spread across five waterside areas, live music plays at dinner, and a kids' zone in the garden means the whole family is accounted for. The menu runs family-style, heavy on fresh seafood, and the stir-fried prawns with shrimp oil have a following. A relaxed, generous place to eat well outside Bangkok.

  33. Rank 204. Busarin Cuisine

    Northern Thai

The dining room at this Northern Thai restaurant runs to high ceilings, green leather booths, and pink walls lined with fine chinaware, the kind of setup that feels inherited rather than designed. The menu leans on family recipes, with noodles and roti standing in for rice. Streaky pork braised for two days in hang le curry is the thing to order. Michelin Guide listed.

  53. Bamboo screens and candlelight on the terrace, cocktails poured until 1am, and a menu that hopscotches the globe without apology. Eat Me is a relaxed late-night restaurant in Si Lom where the kitchen leans on Thai ingredients but feels no obligation to cook Thai food. The chef has cooked under Marcus Samuelsson and Daniel Boulud, which explains the daring combinations, even if the mood stays firmly unhurried.

  54. The blackboard changes daily, which is usually a good sign at a casual Thai restaurant in Chiang Mai. The chef sources ingredients from around the country and cooks with the kind of regional range you don't always find in one place. Outdoor seating adds to the low-key feel. If fresh Thai chillies are on the table, ask for extra; the kitchen takes heat seriously.

  56. Rank 204. Enoteca

    Italian

An Italian restaurant with nearly 400 bottles on the wine list, including a serious run of Barolo, and the name ("wine library") makes the priorities clear. Floor-to-ceiling windows look out onto a garden, which cuts the Bangkok business-district noise down considerably. The kitchen pulls from all regions of Italy, ingredients flown in from Europe, with risotto a recurring reason to linger over a second glass.

  79. Rank 204. Heh

    Contemporary Australian

The name is an expression of curiosity, which turns out to be a fair preview of what the kitchen is doing: blending Andaman seafood with Australian imports in a way that lands somewhere between a Melbourne café and a Phuket dining room. It's a relaxed contemporary spot with enough style to feel considered. The menu is cooked to order, the flavors run bold without showing off, and the whole thing moves with the energy of a team that's having a good time figuring it out.

  81. Rank 204. hom

    Portuguese

A fine-dining restaurant inside the InterContinental Phuket that looks like a Thai temple and serves Portuguese food, which tells you something about the ambition level here. The chef came up through Potong in Bangkok and Ikoyi in London, and the cooking leans hard into fermentation, the kind of bold, funky flavors that make you want to interrogate the menu. Kamala Beach outside, something considerably more serious within.

  92. Rank 204. Jaidee Shrimp

    Southern Thai

The shrimp come from the team's own farm in Surat Thani province, which explains why a casual Bangkok seafood spot has built its whole identity around one crustacean. No red meat appears on the menu, just shrimp in every mood, squid, mantis shrimp, and fish alongside Southern-inflected curries and soups. It's a no-fuss room where the sourcing does the talking, and the regulars tend to order without looking up.

  93. Rank 204. Jamn

    Thai

    The awards

  94. Jampa is a vegetarian restaurant inside a wellness community on Phuket, where the kitchen builds its menu around ingredients grown close enough to see from the table. Dishes shift with the seasons, and the natural flavors can get quietly complex. Saturday's lakeside lunch is cooked over a wood fire, which makes it feel more like a ritual than a meal. A calm, considered room where no one is in a hurry, which is either a feature or a warning depending on your lunch plans.

      Stay Score

Four fifths of the score is the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin Key outweighs a listicle. The last fifth is where it is: the ranked places to eat and things to do around it, and how safe the country is. When you sort by what's nearby, distance from you changes the order, never the score.

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. The places are 60% of it: the best of what's within reach, weighed by distance. The setting is the other 40%: how life goes in that country (how people rate their own lives, how long and how well they live, how safe they are) and what it's like right there (the air, and the weather). If the score looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
