Rank 2. Chef's Counter at MAASS
Contemporary New American
Eight seats face an open kitchen inside the Four Seasons Fort Lauderdale, which is about as good a view as a tasting menu gets. The chef's team works through a contemporary New American menu that pulls from French technique and Japanese ingredients, with Florida slipping in where it belongs. A Michelin star keeps it honest. Dress accordingly, and maybe clear the next morning.

Rank 4. The Surf Club Restaurant
New American
The amber-lit dining room inside a restored Art Deco landmark sets the mood before anyone opens a menu. Thomas Keller's Florida debut is a bistro with the feel of a very good private club, all plush banquettes and a handsome vintage bar. The Continental cooking leans into the nostalgia without disappearing into it, and the kitchen's sauces are quietly doing the heavy lifting. It holds a Michelin star.
-
Rank 5. Sunny’s Steakhouse
Steakhouse
Stone crab claws and bone marrow vinaigrette on a classic steakhouse menu is a pretty good summary of what Little River is doing right now. Sunny's leans into the old-meets-new Florida aesthetic hard, and the room hums with a crowd that dressed for it. The steaks come in shareable or individual cuts, the sides include russet potatoes fried in chicken schmaltz, and the martini program landed on Esquire's national list. The New York Times put it on their Restaurant List for 2025.

New York-style Pizza
A pizza shop in Flagler Village that's serious enough about pies to make squash blossom and burrata toppings feel obvious rather than showy. The menu leans New York-style, with a few pastas and salads rounding things out, but the crust is the point. The Michelin Guide gave it a Bib Gourmand, and regulars tend to negotiate hard over whether to save room for the olive oil cake. They should.

Named for the chef's grandmother, this Michelin-starred Israeli restaurant in North Miami pulls its menu from hyperlocal ingredients and rotates dishes often enough that running out of something is part of the deal. The chef's counter is where you want to be, watching Middle Eastern flavors get handled with quiet precision. The staff reads the room well enough to steer you through whatever's left, which turns out to be a feature, not a bug.

Rank 8. Evelyn's
Mediterranean
Sitting inside the Four Seasons Fort Lauderdale, this modern Mediterranean restaurant earns its own reason to show up, with a menu that pulls from Levantine cooking and slips in Floridian touches along the way. The room faces the pool and the Atlantic beyond it, which is either inspiring or distracting depending on your dining companion. The kitchen leans into spreads, skewers, and the kind of food that makes a long dinner feel easy.

Ecuadorian and Peruvian cooking meet in a North Miami restaurant where the room feels genuinely celebratory without trying too hard. Chef Alejandra Espinoza runs a menu that moves from coastal ceviches through braised stews and into cassava fritters, all of it vivid and warm in a way that matches the decor. Modern French
The counter wraps around an open kitchen in the Miami outpost of Joël Robuchon's global fine dining brand, which holds two Michelin stars and brings the full Paris treatment, rosewood walls, leather chairs, tasting menus, to the Design District. The kitchen leans on Robuchon's classics while gesturing toward local flavors. This is special-occasion territory, dressed and priced accordingly, with the kind of service that makes you feel the bill was entirely your idea.

Rank 12. Daniel's, A Florida Steakhouse
Steakhouse
Dark wood, banquette seating, and lighting low enough that everyone looks like they're closing a deal. Daniel's is a steakhouse on Federal Highway that plays the genre completely straight, which turns out to be exactly what Fort Lauderdale wanted. The menu is built for sharing, so bring people. A Floridian spin on oysters Rockefeller gets things moving, the steaks are cooked with care, and the corn pudding is not optional.

Cocktail bites in a wood-paneled lounge come first, then you move to the intimate dining room for a multicourse contemporary menu that pulls ingredients from New Zealand, Key Largo, and wherever else the chef's attention has landed that season. Tristan Brandt holds a Michelin star here, and the room earns the quiet formality: unhurried, precise, the kind of fine dining that still believes in professional service without apology.
-
Rank 14. Ogawa
Sushi
Ogawa earns its Michelin star as an omakase counter tucked into Little River, where the name means "small river" and the warm wood and bold art signal that someone thought hard about every inch of the room. The chef runs a tight procession of cooked courses before the nigiri arrives, and the cooked dishes alone make clear this isn't a standard sushi night out. Seafood flown in from Japan handles the closing argument. The beverage list is worth your attention too.

Wood-fired Pizza
Wood-fired pizza in a Little River spot that feels like a party someone forgot to announce, concrete floors, dim lighting, and a natural wine list long enough to make you forget you came for the pizza. French
Tucked into Miami's Design District among the fashion boutiques, this French fine dining room holds a Michelin star and reads exactly like its neighborhood: sleek, considered, and a little pleased with itself in the best way. Blue corn tortillas made from scratch, with corn sourced from small Midwest farms and nixtamalized in-house, are what this casual beachside taco spot in North Beach built its reputation on. The team behind Boia De runs this wood-fired New American spot a few doors down, with no gas stove in sight. What's surprising is that vegetables do most of the heavy lifting: the lasagna sheets are made from mustard greens, and the menu treats produce with the same care you'd expect from a proper steakhouse. A gilded woolly mammoth by Damien Hirst anchors the courtyard outside, and the gold-domed dining room inside doesn't exactly dial it down. Isan Thai
A tuk tuk parked in the back of a Fort Lauderdale strip mall sets the tone at this no-reservations Isan Thai restaurant, where the menu runs well past the usual curry-and-pad-thai circuit.
