The Top 100 Restaurants Near Las Alcobas, Mexico City

  1. Rank 1. Rosetta

    Creative Mexican

Elena Reygadas is one of those chefs even casual diners have heard of, and her Michelin-starred Roma Norte restaurant earns the reputation. The room fills with the kind of crowd that actually knows what they're eating, creative Mexican dishes built for sharing and laced with unexpected global touches. It feels celebratory without being stiff, the food genuinely surprising in a way that makes you want to order one more thing.

  2. Sud 777 is a Michelin-starred Mexican restaurant sitting in the well-heeled Pedregal neighborhood, the kind of spot where the room feels expensive without being stuffy, all dark wood and high ceilings. The crowd skews local money and knowing visitors who've done their homework. Go for the suckling pig with pibil sauce, served with house tortillas so you can build your own tacos, which honestly feels like a cheat code at a tasting-menu level restaurant.

  3. Rank 3. Quintonil

    New-wave Mexican

Quintonil is the kind of two-Michelin-star tasting menu that makes Polanco feel like the center of the universe. The chef takes deeply Mexican ingredients, insects included, and turns them into something that's playful without being a circus. The crowd leans stylish and curious, the kind of people who traveled specifically to eat here. The vibe is lively rather than reverent, which helps when a dessert involves caviar and plankton oil.

  4. Rank 4. Máximo

    French-influenced Mexican

A Michelin-starred fine dining room in Roma Norte that somehow pulls off feeling effortlessly cool rather than stiff. The industrial bones, white brick, and soaring ceilings make it gorgeous without trying too hard. The menu runs French technique through Mexican ingredients in ways that actually make sense, and the crowd looks like they live nearby but dress like they really don't. Linger over the tasting menu, and don't skip dessert, even when it sounds weird.

  5. Rank 5. Em

    Contemporary Mexican

A Michelin-starred fine dining spot in Roma Norte named after the chef's daughter, which tells you something about how personal this place feels. Downstairs it's intimate enough for a first date that goes well, upstairs there's a moody cocktail bar to loosen you up first. The kitchen takes Mexican ingredients, leans hard into seafood, and finds combinations that sound reckless but land beautifully. Dress like you mean it.

  6. Rank 6. Pujol

    Mexican

Enrique Olvera's two-Michelin-star tasting menu restaurant in Polanco is one of those places people fly to Mexico City specifically to eat at, and the room delivers. Servers in sharp black suits move through a buzzy, modern space filled with travelers who planned this reservation weeks out. The mole madre alone justifies the trip. The seasonal menu walks a confident line between deep Mexican tradition and genuine invention, without ever feeling like it's showing off.

  7. Rank 7. Maizajo

    Corn-Centric Mexican

Maizajo is a serious sit-down restaurant in Condesa that treats corn like the main character it always deserved to be. Downstairs is a packed taqueria where nobody's sitting down; up here, metal rebar chairs and industrial tables set the mood for a menu that goes deeper than you'd expect. The kind of crowd that actually reads the menu, probably works in design, definitely ordered mezcal. Come hungry and curious.

  8. Voraz is a gastro-cantina in a converted auto shop in Roma Sur, and it's exactly as cool as that sounds. The chef trained at Noma and a handful of other serious kitchens, then came home to Mexico City and made something genuinely his own. The crowd is youngish, loud, and clearly thrilled with themselves, which is fine because the food earns it. The vibe is controlled chaos, more or less by design.

  9. A Michelin-starred rooftop tasting spot in Condesa that you book by sliding into its Instagram DMs, which somehow feels exactly right. The covered terrace is draped in plants and has the vibe of a dinner party where everyone got lucky with the invite. The chef and her young crew cook modern Mexican with real technique, serving dishes portioned to share. Getting a reservation is the hard part; everything after that is pretty great.

  10. Masala y Maiz holds a Michelin star for doing something genuinely hard to explain, which is part of the appeal. The chef duo behind this buzzy restaurant in Centro cook where African, Indian, and Mexican traditions meet so naturally you stop wondering how and just eat. The crowd skews curious and cosmopolitan, people who read the menu twice and still get surprised by what shows up. Portions are real, the vibe is warm, and nothing tastes like anything else you'll have in the city.

  11. The setup sounds like a joke: a taqueria that operates out of an auto repair shop, opens only after dark, and has a Michelin Bib Gourmand. Nobody's there for the oil changes. They're there for the al pastor, stacked high on a spinning trompo and shaved to order onto a tortilla. The gringa version, loaded with melted cheese, is the move. Come hungry, come late, and don't wear anything you'd mind getting a little messy.

  12. Old-world Mexican dining at its most festive, where roaming musicians and big families dressed to the nines set the tone before you've even sat down. El Cardenal has been around forever in the Centro Histórico, and the classic dishes are made with dairy from the restaurant's own ranch, which you'll taste. The crowd is a mix of multigenerational celebrants and tourists who stumbled in and clearly won the day.

  14. Rank 14. Fugaz

    Mexican

A low-key cafe in Roma Norte that punches well above its weight, with a Bib Gourmand to prove it. The menu leans Mexican but with a quiet Mediterranean drift, heavy on vegetables and whatever looked good at the market that morning. The crowd is mostly locals who found it before anyone else and intend to keep it that way. The green facade is hard to miss, which is lucky because this one is worth finding.

The open kitchen keeps things honest, and the menu leans on seasonal ingredients with enough confidence that nothing needs to be over-explained. The crowd is mostly locals and a few in-the-know visitors who've figured out that the places without a line out front are usually the better call.

    Innovative Mexican

By day it's a low-key Condesa café, but after dark Gaba becomes one of the more exciting places to eat in the neighborhood. The kitchen earns its Michelin Bib Gourmand by doing bold, inventive Mexican cooking without making you feel like you're in a lecture about it. Offal fans should absolutely show up, and the cocktails are strong enough to make whoever you brought along forget they ordered the same thing twice.

    Rustic Mexican

Pit-roasted lamb and goat trucked in overnight from Hidalgo, eaten at wooden tables with colorful runners, this is a barbacoa spot that cleans up nicely without losing its soul. It's only open Friday through Sunday, so the weekend crowd treats it like a religion. Order by weight, get the consommé, wrap everything in warm tortillas, and keep going until your body sends a firm message to stop.

  21. A Korean restaurant in Condesa that manages to feel both effortless and carefully considered, which is harder than it sounds. The room is sleek, the banchan arrives sharp, and the prime-rib barbecue turns the whole table into a glorious mess of small plates. It's earned a Bib Gourmand, and the crowd looks like they knew about it before you did. Dress casually but make it look like you didn't try.

  22. No sign, no menu, no reservations, and somehow a Michelin star. This cash-only sidewalk spot in Roma Norte runs four communal tables and just keeps sending food until you wave the white flag. Everything is built on heirloom corn ground in house, so even a simple tortilla hits differently. Show up early because the waitlist moves fast and nobody's waiting for you. Bring cash, bring patience, and prepare to eat more than you planned.

    Baja Mexican

Baja California cooking done right, in a fine dining room on one of Condesa's prettiest tree-lined streets. The menu moves easily between seafood and meat, and nothing on it feels fussy, which is a real trick at this price point. The terrace draws the sunglasses-and-linen crowd, while inside it's date night and slow lunches. Michelin noticed, and for once the hype is quiet enough to trust.

Tucked into a historic building on Coyoacán's main plaza, Los Danzantes is a contemporary Mexican restaurant that draws a relaxed mix of locals and tourists who actually made the trip south of the centro. The kitchen has real conviction, keeping certain dishes on the menu for decades because they've earned it. The mezcal program is solid too, which makes sense given the name. Go for lunch when the light through the plaza is good.

  26. Meroma has been around long enough to earn the word "institution" without anyone rolling their eyes. It's a cozy, ingredient-driven dinner spot in Roma Norte where the husband-and-wife team behind the kitchen clearly likes feeding people more than impressing them. Grab a stool at the street-level bar for a cocktail first, then head upstairs where the crowd leans local and the seasonal menu quietly overdelivers. The wine list holds its own too.

Nicos is the kind of family-run Mexican restaurant that makes you feel guilty about every tourist trap you've ever eaten at. Been around forever, out in Azcapotzalco, drawing loyal regulars who've been coming so long they probably remember when it was a snack stand. The menu is short and focused, with daily specials worth asking about, and the kitchen will split pasta dishes into half portions so you can try more than one, which is the kind of policy that makes regulars out of people. Neighbourhood crowds fill the terrace like they own it, because they basically do. Michelin Bib Gourmand, if that seals it.

  53. Enrique Olvera's agave bar and kitchen in Polanco is the rare place where the drinks are genuinely the point, not an afterthought. An enormous comal anchors the open kitchen, and the menu leans Oaxacan, lots of snacky, vegetable-forward bites that pair well with rare mezcals or house cocktails built around regional spirits most people can't name. The crowd skews stylish and in-the-know, the kind who actually read the drinks menu.

  54. A Michelin-starred taco stand that fits maybe six people standing at a counter is either a fever dream or proof that Mexico City operates on a different level entirely. 57. This old-school cantina has been around forever and still draws power-lunchers, multigenerational families doing formal Sunday spreads, and businessmen quietly on their third tequila before 2pm. Dress up, show up hungry, and let it take you somewhere your usual taco spot absolutely cannot.

  71. Rank 71. Raíz

    Contemporary Mexican

Tucked into the ground floor of a Polanco apartment building, Raíz is the kind of contemporary Mexican spot that looks like nothing from the street and then quietly floors you. The corn-forward cooking hits every register, from bright street-food flavors to something more refined, and the staff makes you feel like a regular on your first visit. Go à la carte or let the tasting menu do the thinking for you.

  76. Comal Oculto is a casual all-day Mexican spot where the comal does most of the heavy lifting, and pretty much everything that comes off it is worth eating. The warm terracotta room fills up with neighborhood regulars and weekend brunch crowds ready to wait for a table, because the gorditas and chilaquiles here are genuinely the move. It earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand, which tracks. Show up hungry and order aggressively.

  93. Fine dining in Mexico City that actually has a personality, Carmela y Sal is rooted in the flavors of Tabasco, a region most visitors couldn't place on a map but will absolutely remember after eating here. The chef's cooking is warm and specific in the best way, and the room follows suit. Expect well-dressed locals who look like they know exactly what they're ordering. This is a proper dinner out, and it earns it.

  95. A bull's head greets you at the door, which pretty much sets the tone. This Polanco tapas bar is a love letter to Spain done right, the kind of place where the anchovies on toast are reason enough to show up and the gambas al ajillo will make you question every other version you've had. Order a lot, share everything, and stay longer than you planned. The crowd skews fun and social, not precious about it.
