The sharp smell of vinegar hitting the air signals the start of service at this 14-seat omakase counter in Coral Gables, where chef Shingo Akikuni holds a Michelin star. Fish comes almost entirely from Japan, each piece dressed with little more than a swipe of nikiri. Fourteen seats sounds intimate until you notice the team switching sides mid-meal without missing a beat, running the room like it's half the size.

Dim sum from a chef who treats borders as loose suggestions, set inside a ground-floor office building in Coral Gables that looks like it should house a dentist. The dumplings started as a pop-up and earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand and a James Beard semifinalist nod before finding a permanent home here. The cooking pulls from China, Japan, and Italy in the same breath, and somehow it coheres. A Niman Ranch short rib filling alongside charred cabbage in chili butter will tell you more than any summary.

Bakery
An arch of roses at the door signals exactly the kind of bakery this is: one where the pastries look almost too considered to eat. Antonio Bachour's Coral Gables shop holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand, and the counter seats face a glass-enclosed kitchen where those famously ornate croissants and tarts take shape. There's savory food too, but everyone here has already mentally committed to dessert before they've sat down.

A pocket-sized wine bar in South Miami where a short, rotating menu does more than most restaurants twice its size. The kitchen counter is the best seat in the house, which is saying something given how few seats there are. The team behind it landed on Bon Appétit's best new restaurants list and The New York Times' Miami roundup, and a James Beard semifinalist nod followed. Small plates, natural pours, and a room that fills up fast.

Rank 20. Kojin 2.0
Contemporary Japanese
Foie toast, a round of goose liver ganache on rye with a dot of strawberry preserves, sets the tone at this contemporary Japanese fine dining room in Coral Gables. The chef team behind the original has rebuilt it with a bolder personality, and the menu moves freely between tasting format and à la carte without losing its nerve. Bone marrow panna cotta and a creamsicle ice cream sandwich share real estate here, and somehow that feels earned.
-
Rank 21. Tinta y Cafe
Cuban
Bookshelves line the glass façade, which is either a design choice or a very strong hint about the vibe. This Cuban cafe in Coral Gables does cafe con leche, pastelitos, and sandwiches in a room full of mid-century furniture, with palm tree shade outside if you prefer. The Cubano is the thing to order. It holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand, which means the ratio of quality to price is doing real work here.

Rank 23. Ariete
French-influenced New American
Patio or dining room, the kitchen sends the same meal either way, which tells you something about how this Coconut Grove fine-dining room operates. Michael Beltran's French-inflected New American menu earns a Michelin star on the strength of sauces that feel like the actual point of each dish, with venison tartare and bone marrow sabayon as a case in point. The kind of place where the bread course quietly becomes a highlight.

Steakhouse
Stone crab claws and bone marrow vinaigrette on a classic steakhouse menu is a pretty good summary of what Little River is doing right now. Sunny's leans into the old-meets-new Florida aesthetic hard, and the room hums with a crowd that dressed for it. The steaks come in shareable or individual cuts, the sides include russet potatoes fried in chicken schmaltz, and the martini program landed on Esquire's national list. Korean Steakhouse
The neon-lit entrance hallway hits you with subwoofer bass before you've seen a single menu, which tells you exactly where the priorities lie. COTE is a Korean steakhouse in Miami's Design District, holding a Michelin star, where whole cuts of dry-aged beef are displayed like sculpture before they hit your tabletop grill. The servers know the room cold, the banchan is thoughtful, and the kimchi Wagyu paella has apparently earned its own fan club.

A dining room with a hand-shaped table at its center sets the tone for this Neapolitan Italian spot in South Miami. Antipasti and secondi arrive family-style for the table to share, while the menu leans into Neapolitan classics, slow-cooked ragù and pasta alla Genovese, reworked with a chef's eye for unexpected pairings. The cocktail list skews international, the service stays warm, and the whole thing landed on the 50 Top Italy world ranking.
-
A short, ever-rotating menu of around eight dishes anchors this casual neighborhood spot in coral gables, where everything is made in house and the cooking bounces freely between Venezuelan, Japanese, and American touchpoints. The crab arepa alone explains the Michelin Bib Gourmand. Coffee is taken seriously, the flan has a following, and the room runs warm in the way that happens when the people who opened a place still work it every night.

Sushi
A Wynwood omakase that earns its Michelin star behind a sliding door with a time-sensitive passcode, which is either thrilling or mildly stressful depending on your punctuality. Inside, Chef Seijun Okano runs a compact counter where fish arrives from Japan multiple times a week, pressed into vinegar-seasoned rice made fresh each service. Questions are encouraged, drinks flow, and the playlist keeps things from getting too reverent.
-
Rank 44. Ogawa
Sushi
Ogawa earns its Michelin star as an omakase counter tucked into Little River, where the name means "small river" and the warm wood and bold art signal that someone thought hard about every inch of the room. The chef runs a tight procession of cooked courses before the nigiri arrives, and the cooked dishes alone make clear this isn't a standard sushi night out. Seafood flown in from Japan handles the closing argument. The beverage list is worth your attention too.

New American
The amber-lit dining room inside a restored Art Deco landmark sets the mood before anyone opens a menu. Thomas Keller's Florida debut is a bistro with the feel of a very good private club, all plush banquettes and a handsome vintage bar. The Continental cooking leans into the nostalgia without disappearing into it, and the kitchen's sauces are quietly doing the heavy lifting. It holds a Michelin star.
-
Rank 47. Le Jardinier Miami
French
Tucked into Miami's Design District among the fashion boutiques, this French fine dining room holds a Michelin star and reads exactly like its neighborhood: sleek, considered, and a little pleased with itself in the best way. The seasonal menu leans light for the category, big flavors without the weight that usually comes with a three-hour dinner. The vegetable-forward cooking is the point here, not a concession to it.

A dozen warm wood chairs at a blonde counter in Coral Gables is where the chef's Japanese and Filipino heritage quietly collide. This intimate omakase pulls you through a procession of snacks, sushi, and small surprises, including a Kumamoto oyster served in a dashi "shell" and madai sliced to resemble a rose. The meal closes on miso ice cream, which sounds like a twist but feels inevitable by the time it arrives.

Rank 51. Elcielo Miami
Peruvian
A tableside "chocotherapy" ritual, where chocolate is poured over your hands mid-meal, tells you exactly what kind of tasting menu this is. The parade of small bites leans theatrical, and the crowd is fully on board. It holds a Michelin star.

Concrete walls, candles, and a staff you could count on one hand: this Little Havana tasting menu spot runs on a kind of controlled intensity that bigger kitchens couldn't pull off. The chef and a sous cook, plate, and clear the room themselves, turning out a frequently changing contemporary menu where the roasted plantain brioche, served hot with caramelized coconut butter, appears to be non-negotiable. Wood-fired pizza in a Little River spot that feels like a party someone forgot to announce, concrete floors, dim lighting, and a natural wine list long enough to make you forget you came for the pizza. Beets buried under coals for eight hours is either an act of patience or a personality disorder, and at Francis Mallmann's open-fire Argentine steakhouse inside the Faena Hotel, it reads as both.
