Held in a church parking lot on Central Avenue, this Saturday and Wednesday outdoor market runs well over a hundred vendors across fresh produce, local meats, handcrafted bread, and enough pickled things to stock a bunker. Coffee and breakfast stalls let you eat while you shop, and the mix of knife sharpeners, blown glass, and dog treats ensures you'll leave with things you never planned to buy. Dogs are near-mandatory; well-behaved kids survive too.

This kitchen and bar on McDowell Road serves Ethiopian combinations the right way, on a wide round plate loaded with stews, greens, and a scoop of homemade cheese that cools things down. The injera does its job as utensil and bread at once. Order for the table and let it fill up; solo dining works, but barely.
