You email ahead to book one of four tea experiences, which come with scones, clotted cream, and finger sandwiches. There's a Mad Hatter tea party for kids, dress-up props included, and Nashville Scene named it a Best Worth-the-Drive Treat.

This no-frills West African restaurant in north Phoenix carries a largely Liberian menu with a few wider regional dishes folded in, including egusi soup thick with smoked fish and goat pepper soup that brings genuine heat without quite crossing the line. The room is modest, the cooking is not, and Phoenix is richer for having it.

Nasim Alikhani's minimalist Persian cafe on Flatbush is the kind of place you visit for one thing and leave thinking about it for weeks. That thing is the latifeh, a traditional confection the New York Times flagged as one of 2024's top New York dishes: two rounds of soft, rose-scented cream sandwiched between pastry and rolled in salted pistachios. Seasonal Dessert
A roadside soft-serve stand on the Historic Columbia River Highway, Sugarpine has been stopping Gorge-bound traffic for a long time, the building's past lives as a gas station and bait shop still faintly readable in its bones. The Cherries Jubilee Sundae landed on the New York Times list of the year's standout dishes: sour-cherry sauce, almond brittle, cherry almond baba rhum, and vanilla soft-serve doing a lot of quiet work together for nine dollars.
