  1. Rank 1. Ariete

    American-Cuban

Patio or dining room, the kitchen sends the same meal either way, which tells you something about how this Coconut Grove fine-dining room operates. Michael Beltran's French-inflected New American menu earns a Michelin star on the strength of sauces that feel like the actual point of each dish, with venison tartare and bone marrow sabayon as a case in point. The kind of place where the bread course quietly becomes a highlight.

  2. Rank 2. Emelina

    Modern Cuban

A handful of counter seats face an open kitchen where the team is quietly asking what Cuban food could be if it kept its roots and borrowed ideas from everywhere else. The Michelin-starred result is a tasting-counter experience that feels personal rather than performative, with most ingredients coming from South Florida farms and ranches. Expect refined, composed cooking: familiar flavors refracted just enough to stop you mid-bite.

  3. The café con leche here is made with a lighter roast, which in Miami is practically a political statement. Tinta y Café is a Cuban sandwich and coffee shop in Coral Gables where the second-generation team bakes its own baguettes, folds French eggs into the breakfast sandwiches, and stuffs the Madurito with roasted pork, chorizo, and sweet plantains. The New York Times put it on their Miami restaurant list, which the regulars probably shrug at between sips.

  4. Live music fills the room most nights at this Cuban cocktail bar and restaurant on Calle Ocho, where the décor slides between Havana and mid-century Miami without quite landing in either. Michelle Bernstein and cocktail veteran Julio Cabrera run the place together, which means the food and the drinks get equal attention. It holds a spot on The World's 50 Best Bars list, and the James Beard Foundation named it an Outstanding Bar Semifinalist.

  5. Dangling greenery and cozy booths set the mood at this Cuban diner in Coconut Grove, where the kitchen opens early, closes late, and never seems to slow down. Chef Michael Beltran runs the room with something close to organized chaos, and the menu swings from oxtail ajiaco to towering sandwiches on fluffy Cuban bread. The guava and cream cheese pastelitos alone tend to decide the next visit before you've finished this one. It holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand.

  6. The Cuban bread comes from La Segunda Bakery in Tampa, shipped in specifically to get the crust right on the sandwiches. This is a Cuban restaurant where the team cooks from scratch the way they did back home, and that intention shows up in the ropa vieja and the arroz con pollo as much as the pressed sandwiches. The flan is the quiet closer nobody skips.

  7. The Cuban sandwich here starts with pork butt marinated for a full week before it ever meets the press. This old-school Little Havana sandwich shop holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand, and there's nearly always a line snaking through the narrow emerald-green room to prove the point. The lechon, shredded pork in garlic-cilantro aioli, is the heavier move if you can't decide. Come hungry and come ready to wait.

  8. The frita at this old-school Cuban cafeteria on Calle Ocho is a smash burger built Havana-style: beef patty seasoned with cumin and paprika, crispy potato strings, diced onion, and a soft Cuban bun. The founder, now in his late eighties, still takes his afternoon glass of wine at the end of the counter. The New York Times put it on their Miami list, alongside the other half of a local argument that runs the way Philly's cheesesteak debate does.

  9. Rank 9. La Camaronera

    Cuban Seafood

The pan con minuta is a whole gutted fried snapper tucked into a Cuban roll, tail hanging out, more fish than bread can reasonably hold. This Little Havana seafood counter has been around forever, and the logic is simple: everything comes out of the fryer to order, which is the whole secret. A retail fish case up front means the hogfish you're eyeing is the same one ending up on your plate.

  10. Ropa vieja made with mushrooms instead of shredded beef sounds like a compromise until you're actually eating it. This Cuban restaurant on Moody Street leans into the roasted-meat-and-tropical-cocktail side of the menu, with drinks running toward guava, smoky rum, and tobacco notes. On a warm night, the patio is where you want to be. A James Beard semifinalist in 2024, it also holds Boston Magazine's Best Cuban nod.

  14. A tasting menu format in a cozy Ravenswood dining room where Cuban and Filipino cooking share the same plate, cooked by a husband-and-wife team working through both heritages on their own terms. Wagyu stands in for vaca frita, and arroz caldo gets lobster poached in calamansi butter. None of it reads as fusion tourism; it reads as two people cooking what they actually know. Their diner next door handles the casual lumpia crowd.

  15. A white-toned terrace a short walk from one of Fuerteventura's longest stretches of sand sets the scene for this creative restaurant, where the chef navigates between Cuban memory and Canarian pantry with a steady hand. The kitchen runs on two tasting menus only, and the cooking leans into unexpected technique, including a goat leg cured and shaved after the fashion of Japanese katsuobushi, a detail that earns its place on the plate.

  18. Rank 20. Tin Tin

    French Cuban

A Cuban-French bistro tucked into Little Havana, Tin Tin landed on the New York Times Restaurant List for 2026. The team comes out of a family Cuban sandwich shop nearby, which makes the leap to ropa vieja tortellini and yellowtail crudo in coconut leche de tigre feel both surprising and somehow inevitable. The room sits well outside the Brickell velvet-rope circuit, and the food makes that feel like the whole point.

  23. Rank 25. Adelfa’s Comida Cubana

    Traditional Cuban Food Truck

  24. The entrance is styled as a dry cleaner, complete with hanging racks of clothes you push through to reach a gold-leaf, hand-painted dining room with a live jazz trio. This elegant Cuban-Korean-Peruvian sit-down restaurant in a strip mall off the Palmetto is from the family behind Islas Canarias, and the menu runs mojo chicken alongside lomo saltado risotto and katsu-style chicharrones. The New York Times named it one of Miami's 25 best restaurants.

  25. Rank 25. Chibanos

    Cuban Deli

Chibanos is a casual sandwich shop in Washington Square West where Cuban and Chinese cooking share a single piece of toasted pan cubano. Char siu pork goes between the bread, and breakfast versions ride on soft bolo baos. The yuca fries and Chinese sausage croquetas are there if you want a side, and the jasmine flan closes things out. Order at the counter, then settle in at a table inside or out, where half the neighborhood seems to be doing the same. The Infatuation put it at number 25 on its list of Philadelphia's best restaurants.

  26. Rank 25. La Cubana

    Comfort Food Cuban

Pastel walls and squeaky vinyl banquettes set the tone at this retro Cuban diner on Ossington, where everything from the bread to the desserts comes out of the kitchen from scratch. The barbecue beef short ribs get a long braise and a guava glaze, and the Cubano runs on slow-roasted pork and house-made baguette. The kind of comfort food that doesn't apologize for being exactly what it is.

  28. La Viña is a Cuban restaurant in Hialeah that looks like a grandparent's den, with wood paneling and sunwashed family photos watching you eat. Bring cash, because the card reader is a rumor. Bring an appetite too, since portions are built for leftovers, and the big bottle of vinegar and peppers on the table is meant for pouring on everything. The Infatuation ranks it among Miami's top restaurants.

  31. Rank 38. Azucar

    Cuban

Cuban bakery on Westheimer where the coffee comes strong and the pastries come sweet, which is exactly what the name promises. The capuchinos, spongy yellow cones soaked in spiced syrup, are the thing to know about, along with flaky pastelitos stuffed with guava, beef, or cheese. A cortadito or café con leche keeps things civilized; a café Cubano does not.

  32. Rank 38. Havana

    Cuban

Mojitos are the organizing principle at this Cuban restaurant and bar in Walnut Creek, and the menu runs a dozen or so of them, spiked with guava or prickly pear depending on your mood. Floral-print booths line the walls, a long communal table anchors the middle, and the patio fills fast on weekends. The San Francisco Chronicle named it among the best restaurants in Walnut Creek. Come thirsty and order the ropa vieja empanadas while you figure out the rest.

  33. Murals that eat up the walls set the tone at this Cuban restaurant, a food truck that eventually needed more room. The Cuban sandwich comes deluxe with slow-cooked pork, sweet ham, extra Swiss, pickles, and two ham croquettes tucked inside, which sounds excessive until you're halfway through it. Seasonal mojito cocktails and a Delta 9 mocktail they've dubbed the "mo-wee-to" keep things lively. Save room for flan or tres leches.

  34. Cafecito is a casual Cuban counter on East Congress, right next to the Auditorium Theatre, which makes it the default pregame for anyone with curtain time on their mind. Sandwiches on crisp pressed bread are the main event, with platters of rice and beans for people who want a fork. The cortaditos and cafe con leche are there to get you through a long first act, and they cost less than a theater snack.

  35. A Cuban-inspired brunch spot on the second floor in Waikiki where the Cubano and choripan keep locals coming back despite the tourist foot traffic below. The chef leans hard on local sourcing, which is rarer here than you'd think, so the fruit plate runs on farmers market tropicals instead of the usual imported berries flown in from somewhere cold. Sandwiches and braised brisket do the heavy lifting on a menu that reads like it belongs somewhere else entirely.

  45. Rank 56. Soy Cubano

    Cuban Sandwich Shop

Soy Cubano is a small, counter-service sandwich spot in a McKennie Ave strip, built around one thing: the Cuban. It arrives cut into neat triangles, with a thin toasted roll, two kinds of pork, Swiss, pickle, and the yellow mustard doing its job. It's a casual, order-at-the-register, wear-whatever kind of lunch, and it's the kind of place where precision is the whole personality. Nashville Scene named it Best Cuban Sandwich in 2023.

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. The places are 60% of it: the best of what's within reach, weighed by distance. The setting is the other 40%: how life goes in that country (how people rate their own lives, how long and how well they live, how safe they are) and what it's like right there (the air, and the weather). If the score looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
