  1. Rank 1. Kuuru

    Nikkei

Nikkei cuisine, the quietly fascinating collision of Japanese technique and Peruvian flavor that emerged from migration, finds a fitting home in Jeddah, a city shaped by its own waves of arrivals. Kuuru is a sleek Japanese-Peruvian restaurant with a live cooking station at its center, wooden interiors, and a raw bar that takes full advantage of the Red Sea's proximity. It holds a spot on MENA's 50 Best Restaurants list.

  2. Rank 2. Nami

    Nikkei

A futuristic swooping building on a golf course in the Brabant countryside is an unlikely setting for Nikkei cuisine, but here we are. The restaurant holds a Michelin star for its Japanese-Peruvian menu, where sharp ceviche and robata-grilled bites give way to sushi that makes the drive feel reasonable. The kitchen handles acid and heat with a confident hand, and the terrace on a good day borders on unfair to everyone eating indoors.

  3. Rank 3. Nobu

    Nikkei

This is the Caesars Palace Nobu, the biggest of the three on the Strip, a dim, stylish Nikkei dining room where lychee martinis and miso black cod are the opening move. Sequins and big watches fill the tables before a show at the Colosseum across the casino floor. Walk-ins sometimes score a bar seat, but plan on reserving a couple of weeks ahead.

  4. Nikkei cuisine, the Japanese-Peruvian tradition that runs through Lima's Maido, lands inside the W Santiago as a Chilean chapter. Mitsuharu Tsumura's restaurant filters his philosophy through local seafood and ingredients, with counter seats facing chefs who torch and dress each course in plain view. Ranked among Latin America's 50 Best, it has the calm confidence of a place that has decided exactly what it is and simply gets on with it.

  5. The concept here is a Japanese jazz kissa, a vinyl-focused listening bar, filtered through a chef who thinks huitlacoche and yuzu belong on the same plate. The food runs "Nikkei-Mexa," meaning Mexican and Japanese ingredients trading places freely, and the cocktails follow the same logic: sotol meets sake, charanda meets shochu. A taco cart parks out front most nights. Small room, big sonic ambitions, and a crowd that showed up for all of it.

  8. Rank 9. Izakaya

    Nikkei Izakaya

Nikkei in Cairo sounds like a novelty act, but Izakaya commits to the premise. The format is Japanese izakaya, small plates and raw bar designed for grazing, but the kitchen runs on a Peruvian sensibility, so gyoza and robata dishes arrive with South American instincts folded in. Local sourcing keeps the menu grounded wherever the concept wanders. A 50 Discovery from The 50 list.

  10. Rank 9. Osaka

    Nikkei

Nikkei cuisine, the Peruvian-Japanese fusion that sounds like a food-trend pitch but has actual roots, is what this polished Santiago restaurant has built its reputation on. The kitchen works Chilean fish and seafood into ceviches and creative sushi, and the wok handles smoked pork belly alongside tacu tacu. The room in Vitacura reads sleek and grown-up, so dress accordingly. A Discovery selection from Latin America's 50 Best.

  13. Rank 15. Ají

    Nikkei

The name means "chilli pepper" in Peruvian Spanish and "taste" in Japanese, which is about as economical as a restaurant can be with its mission statement. This Barcelona dining room runs a Japanese-Peruvian tasting menu format, with a lunchtime option available midweek. The kitchen leans into the Nikkei tradition with real conviction, and the ceviches, offered in a few distinct styles, tend to be what people talk about on the way out.

  14. Rank 15. Azotea

    Nikkei

Climbing plants soften deliberately aged green walls, and a small terrace out front sets the tone before you've ordered a thing. This is a Nikkei restaurant and cocktail bar where the chef, a Peruvian native, works the Japanese-Peruvian crossover with a light hand and sharp contrasts. Tasting menus and à la carte both run alongside a sip pairing, small cocktail tastings built around Nikkei ingredients, which is a more considered idea than it sounds.

  15. A corner building in the 4th district that you'd walk past without a second glance hides a Japanese-Peruvian fusion restaurant spread across three warm, modern rooms, one of which belongs to the sushi bar. The kitchen moves between delicate sushi and bolder mains, and the staff steer the wine list, which leans Austrian, with the same easy attention they bring to everything else, sake included.

  17. Nikkei cuisine, the slow-burn marriage of Japanese technique and Peruvian flavor that took root when Japanese migrants landed in Lima, is the whole point here. This cozy neighborhood restaurant on a quiet Montrouge street follows that tradition with ceviche sharpened by ginger and lime, and carpaccio lifted by truffle. When the weather cooperates, the garden terrace fills up fast, which tells you everything about the regulars' priorities.

  18. Rank 15. Papa San

    Nikkei

The menu at this Nikkei restaurant has a section called "best friend" for its sides, which tells you something about the register the kitchen is working in. The team behind Llama Inn brings together Japanese technique and Peruvian flavors, running from small zansai plates and robata-grilled items through donabes and maki. The Hudson Yards lunch crowd fills the room, but the food has a Tokyo-via-Lima logic that holds up past the expense-account hour.

  20. Rank 15. Urubamba

    Nikkei

Nikkei cuisine, the Peruvian-Japanese fusion that became a whole culinary movement, is the organizing idea at this intimate restaurant tucked above street level in one of Naples's most expensive shopping corridors. The dining room runs soft and romantic, and there's a private terrace for warmer nights. It's a dressy dinner-out kind of place, the sort where the neighborhood does most of the talking before you've even ordered.

  22. Rank 23. Toga

    Nikkei

Noodles with kimchi mayo and raw red tuna put this small La Latina restaurant on the map, and the dish hasn't left the menu since because nobody will let it. Toga is a compact, casual spot where the cooking moves between Nikkei, Japanese, and Latin American without making a fuss about the itinerary. The room fills fast enough that the team opened a second location to handle the overflow, which tells you something about the regulars.

The score comes from the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin star outweighs a listicle. When you sort by what's nearby, distance changes the order, never the score.

      Stay Score

Four fifths of the score is the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin Key outweighs a listicle. The last fifth is where it is: the ranked places to eat and things to do around it, and how safe the country is. When you sort by what's nearby, distance from you changes the order, never the score.

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. The places are 60% of it: the best of what's within reach, weighed by distance. The setting is the other 40%: how life goes in that country (how people rate their own lives, how long and how well they live, how safe they are) and what it's like right there (the air, and the weather). If the score looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
