The best places in Argentina, according to the experts: The 50, the Michelin Guide, and the Forbes Travel Guide have all weighed in, and their honors are what rank this list. Don Julio comes out on top, and the good stuff runs deepest in Buenos Aires and Mendoza.
More Less
Durigutti Family Winemakers and Bodega Salentein hold the next two places. The Michelin Guide and The 50 show up on more of this list than any other guide.

Rank 1. Don Julio
Steakhouse
The wine bottles covering the walls have handwritten notes from past diners, and there are 60,000 more in the cellar below. Don Julio is a Palermo parrilla where the beef is farmed, butchered, and aged in-house, then finished over white quebracho charcoal on a V-shaped grill. It holds a Michelin star and sits at number ten on the World's 50 Best list. Book months ahead, or join the queue and accept the empanadas.

A winery in Las Compuertas where you can arrive by helicopter, which sets the tone. The Durigutti brothers focus on Malbec but also produce natural, organic, and rare cuvées that reward the detour. Cycling the vineyard rows and ending up at a gourmet picnic is a gentler option. The on-site guesthouse, Finca Victoria, has wooden-beamed ceilings and open fires. Ranked 11th on The World's 50 Best Vineyards list.

The winery is built in the shape of a cross, which sounds like an architectural boast until you learn the four wings actually feed wine by gravity into underground cellars beneath the Uco Valley floor. Tastings happen down there, around a two-tonne limestone table pulled from a nearby quarry, with oak barrels and compass roses carved into the stone for company. Salentein holds a spot on the World's 50 Best Vineyards list, and the Andes looming outside make the whole thing feel slightly unreal.

Argentine
A tasting menu restaurant tucked at the end of a cobblestoned passage in Recoleta, where chef Gonzalo Aramburu paints directly on eggshells and assembles spider crab to look precisely like a spider crab leg. The single menu changes with the seasons and leans hard into Atlantic seafood, with Argentine wine pairings to match. Dessert happens upstairs in a lounge with armchairs. It holds two Michelin stars and a spot on Latin America's 50 Best list.

The Altura Máxima vineyard sits at over 3,000 metres, which means the vines are closer to the clouds than most commercial flights get above sea level. This remote Salta winery, a spot on the World's 50 Best Vineyards list, is fully biodynamic, with an organic farm and orchards feeding the onsite restaurant. Guests choose from four tasting options and can stay at the boutique mountain ranch if descending feels like too much effort.

Ten diners at a single cedarwood counter, watching a kitchen team work in near silence through sixteen courses: that is the whole idea at Trescha. The chef trained across Europe before returning to Argentina to build a fine-dining tasting menu around local ingredients, with a dedicated test kitchen driving constant change. It holds a Michelin star and a spot on Latin America's 50 Best. The converted Villa Crespo mansion means dessert lands on a glass terrace, which is a nice problem to have.

Seafood
In a city where beef is practically a religion, this Palermo seafood restaurant holds a Michelin star and a spot on Latin America's 50 Best list while making the case for Argentina's coastline instead. The loft dining room runs on intimate lighting, charcoal smoke, and a glass wine cellar, and the oyster bar does Patagonian shells three ways before the menu moves on to wood-grilled fish and southern-coast shellfish. The rooftop garden supplies the kitchen.

Modern Argentine
A Michelin-starred tasting-menu restaurant in Mendoza where the region itself is essentially the co-chef. The kitchen works with local suppliers and a heritage food project tracing ingredients back to the area's earliest settlements, so goat, vegetables, and hyper-regional produce carry the menus rather than decorate them. Three tasting formats run from four to nine courses, and the sommelier's enthusiasm for what's in the glass matches the kitchen's for what's on the plate.

The wines age in an underground cellar called the Cava del Ángel, where Gregorian chants pipe through the walls on the theory that music helps them along. Whether or not that works, it sets the mood. Bodega Kaiken is a Mendoza winery and tasting experience, ranked on the World's 50 Best Vineyards, with vineyard walks, cellar tours, and Malbec pours framed by an unignorable view of the Andes. Small-group tours wind through the vineyards and underground cellar before settling into a curated tasting with food pairings. Classical statues and ornamental fountains line the grounds of the Arizu family's historic Maipú estate, which Luigi Bosca has opened as a wine tourism destination. Guided tours move through some of the winery's oldest vines before landing at a tasting, and the neoclassical mansion makes the whole thing feel less like a winery visit and more like crashing a very elegant garden party where everyone is extremely focused on malbec.

The dining room sits inside the Catena Zapata winery, a building shaped like a Mayan pyramid, and the kitchen takes the concept one step further: every dish is designed around wine, not paired with it after the fact. It's a Michelin-starred tasting menu restaurant where the two chefs cook through the flavors of Mendoza, and the meal begins with a walk through the winery and a vermouth in the distillery, which is a hard opening act to follow.

In a corner of the Luján de Cuyo wine country that nobody would photograph on purpose, this intimate tasting-menu restaurant holds a Michelin star. The dining room at this vineyard restaurant is inspired by Dante's Divine Comedy, which sets a certain tone before you've even looked at the menu. Matías Michelini's biodynamic winery sits high in Gualtallary, close enough to the Andes snowline that you half-expect altitude sickness before the first pour. Aberdeen Angus beef is sourced from dedicated ranches in Pampas and Patagonia, aged up to three weeks, then finished over local wood. Modern Indian
A few Bollywood posters on palm-flanked walls are the only clue to what the chef is doing here, which is folding Asian flavors into Latin American ingredients in ways that don't have a tidy name yet. Gran Dabbang is a small-plates spot on a busy Palermo avenue, with a short menu of around ten dishes meant for sharing. The storefront is tiny and the silverware is unfussy, but the cooking has a lot on its mind.

An organic garden out back supplies the herbs and leaves, and the kitchen works outward from there, pulling line-caught fish and pasture-raised meat from as close as possible. It's a casual sit-down restaurant in the Buenos Aires suburbs where the wooden furniture and wall of plants feel less like décor and more like a hint at how the food is sourced. The place landed on Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants list, which the room makes easy to believe.

A repurposed alley, two meters wide and thirty-two meters long, squeezed between two old buildings and turned into a split-level tasting menu restaurant, with a sculpted flock of birds suspended overhead. Thirty-six seats, Córdoba ingredients, and a chef whose suites upstairs let dinner stretch into something longer if the mood takes you.

The fire burns at the counter, not in some distant kitchen, and that proximity is the whole point. This Palermo Soho reservation-only asado restaurant runs a single nightly shift built around a tasting menu where the grill chefs narrate every choice, from wood provenance to cattle feed. Every guest gets a personal butler, which sets the tone for this 23-story luxury hotel in Retiro, positioned conveniently close to Puerto Madero, Recoleta, and the Microcentro. Steakhouse
Seven different open-flame techniques give this beef-focused restaurant its name, and Francis Mallmann's kitchen uses every one of them. Slow fire is the whole philosophy: embers and patience rather than stoves and timers. The terrace dining room at the Vines Resort looks out over Uco Valley vineyards toward the Andes, which makes the wait for a slow-grilled ribeye considerably easier to bear. A Discovery from The World's 50 Best.

The concrete eggs and oak barrels are the giveaway: this is a biodynamic winery tour where the family leads you through the farm and cellar themselves, no guide with a laminated card in sight. The concentric vineyards and octagonal Brutalist bodega sit in the Andean desert valleys, and the philosophy, organic and minimal-intervention all the way, shapes everything from the animals roaming the estate to the wine you sip straight from the vessel.

Zorzal sits high in Gualtallary, where the altitude and volcanic soils are the whole point, and the team is happy to let you feel that firsthand. Depending on the season, visitors can prune, harvest, or simply cycle the vineyards before settling in for empanadas and grilled meats on the winery grounds. It's the kind of place where the winemaker might pull up a chair, which is either charming or terrifying depending on how many questions you have.

The metal cupola crowning this stone-and-cement winery catches your eye long before you reach the door, and the building earns the attention. Zuccardi's tours of their Uco Valley estate have a way of making soil types genuinely absorbing, thanks to a research team that treats concrete fermentation vessels as a design problem worth obsessing over. The 50 Discovery recognized it, which tracks for a place that turns a winery visit into something closer to an architecture seminar.

Perched between two Patagonian lakes with the Andes behind it, this grand mountain lodge resort was built in the style of Canada's great railway hotels, all cypress timber, stone fireplaces, and Norman tile roofs. Golf, skiing in July, fishing, rafting, and condor watching keep guests occupied. Standard rooms are comfortable and well-appointed, and nearly every one looks out at water or snow-capped peaks, which does most of the decorating for them.

A concrete-and-glass wine resort poised beside a reflecting lake in the Uco Valley, with Andean peaks as backdrop and organic vegetables growing on the roof above your head. Rooms run from blonde-wood standards with mountain-view daybeds to suites whose terraces seem to float over the water, up to standalone villas with rooftop hot tubs. Horseback rides, a cedar sauna, and late steak dinners fill the gaps between bottles. It holds a Michelin Key.

Tucked into the Uco Valley on 1,500 acres of Andean vineyard, this modern resort holds 22 rustic-chic villas with private decks, stone bathrooms, and views of the mountains that make alarm clocks feel rude. Some have plunge pools or rooftop terraces; the two-bedroom comes with an outdoor clay tub facing the peaks. Francis Mallmann's open-flame restaurant is on-site, gauchos lead the horseback rides, and the infinity pool handles the rest. Getting here takes some doing, which turns out to suit the mood perfectly. The resort holds a Michelin Key.

Getting here means a van to the dock, then three hours by boat across Lago Argentino and up into its glacial arms, mountains rearing on every side. The reward is a remote Patagonian lodge, earning a Michelin Key, where four cottages hold twenty rooms, each anchored by a picture window facing the peaks. Treks to the Upsala glacier or on horseback fill the days; raw wood and warm textures handle the evenings. Everything but the drinks is included, which feels like the right priority.

Rank 82. Atte. Pizzeria Napoletana
Neapolitan Pizzeria
The wood-fired oven sits in plain sight, the way it would in Naples, and the pizzas that come out of it are properly leavened and blistered in the Neapolitan tradition. This Palermo pizzeria pairs that orthodoxy with Argentine wines by the glass and a menu that quietly folds in local ingredients alongside the Italian ones. Service runs quick without feeling rushed, which is harder to pull off than it sounds.

Traditional Argentine
Francis Mallmann's restaurant sits inside the Escorihuela Gascón bodega, where the grill, the wood store, and the roasting oven all live on the terrace. It's a fine dining room built around open-fire Argentine cooking, the kind of place where the sommelier is not a formality but a genuine asset, given the wine list runs deep into the region. The name comes from theater, where actors break the fourth wall by speaking directly to the audience, and the chef does something similar: finishing dishes at a large open island while guests watch from their seats. This is a tasting menu restaurant in the residential calm of Villa Devoto, running either a four or seven course format. A glass cube with a thatched roof, ringed by vineyards at a family winery, gives you a decent sense of what 5 Suelos is going for. This tasting-menu restaurant is run by two brothers who made their names in wine, and the cooking leans deep into the farm around it. Open-brick walls, big atelier windows, and a terrace shaded by trees set the scene at this relaxed bistro near Mendoza's railway station.
