  1. Rank 2899. Chilam Balam

    Modern Mexican

A basement small-plates spot on Broadway, Chilam Balam holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand and a rotating menu of modern Mexican shared plates that changes often enough to keep regulars guessing. The kitchen has a knack for pairing unexpected ingredients without it ever reading as a stunt. Waits can run long, but the staff will talk you through the menu until you feel like a regular, which helps.

  2. Rank 2899. Comstock Saloon

    Cocktail Bar

The mahogany bar dates to 1906, which means it survived the earthquake and a few other things San Francisco would rather not discuss. Comstock is an old-school cocktail bar in North Beach, all wicker ceiling fans shaped like steamboat paddles, vintage drink signs, and a piano someone actually winched up to the balcony so the music drifts down. Pickled eggs and rye toast handle the eating. The martinis have a following.

  3. The shrimp po'boy here has been the only reason most people need to visit this cash-and-counter sandwich shop in Uptown. Order at the counter, find a seat, wait for your name. The fried shrimp arrive on Leidenheimer bread with hot sauce, lettuce, mayo, and a pickle, and the whole thing costs what a sandwich should cost. It holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand and has been around forever, which in New Orleans means something.

  4. Rank 2899. Ghin Khao

    Northern Thai

The name translates to "eat rice," which turns out to be solid advice. This casual Northern Thai spot on Cermak runs BYOB, with graffiti-style signage, colorful murals, and hip-hop keeping the room from taking itself too seriously. The menu is short, the flavors run hard at spicy, salty, sour, and sweet all at once, and the Michelin Bib Gourmand means the math works in your favor. Bring friends and a cooler.

  5. Rank 2899. Katz's Delicatessen

    Eastern European

The ticket system is real: you get one at the door, you guard it with your life, and the men at the counter are not interested in your confusion. Katz's is an old-school Lower East Side deli that has been feeding New York pastrami sandwiches longer than most buildings around it have been standing. The Michelin Guide gave it a Bib Gourmand, which feels about right for a place where nobody is pretending to be anything.

  6. Butter chicken ramen sits comfortably on the same menu as goat biryani and branzino with black fried lime, which tells you everything about Kitchen Rumors' approach to Indian food. The restaurant comes from the Kahani Social Group, the Houston hospitality team behind several eclectic Indian spots around the city, and the cooking leans confidently into fusion without making a fuss about it. Dessert runs to a pecan pie cookie bar riffing on gulab jamun.

  8. Rank 2899. LORE

    American-infused Indian

A corner storefront at the base of a Park Slope apartment building, which sounds modest until you sit down and notice the cocktail list reads like something a poet ordered. Lore is a neighborhood restaurant doing American-inflected Indian cooking, the kind of place where the food is careful without being precious. The Michelin Guide gives it a Bib Gourmand, and the warm service makes the whole room feel like someone actually planned it that way.

  9. Rank 2899. Miss Ada

    Middle Eastern

A backyard garden in Fort Greene that fills up fast enough to make you wonder if everyone in Brooklyn got the same text. Miss Ada is a Middle Eastern restaurant built around sharing: hummus crowned with lamb shawarma, charred kofta skewers, market salads, and whipped ricotta with honey that blurs the line between course and dessert. The kitchen is reportedly tiny, though nothing on the table suggests it. A Michelin Bib Gourmand, and walk-ins can try their luck at the bar.

  10. This is a neighborhood pizzeria on the Katy Freeway where the booths are dark wood with green leather cushions, which is more upholstery than most pizza places will ever commit to. It holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand, plus a patio for anyone who'd rather eat outside.

  11. Rank 2899. Petiscos

    Portuguese

Petiscos, the Portuguese word for snack-with-drinks, is exactly what this casual small-plates spot in SoFA delivers. The menu leans on imported ingredients and rustic, home-style cooking, the kind of food you'd share at a kitchen table with a bottle of wine open. Cornbread, lupini beans, codfish croquettes, and an octopus salad substantial enough to anchor the table. The Michelin Guide awarded it a Bib Gourmand, which tracks for a place this generous with flavor.

  12. Rank 2899. Roberta's

    Pizzeria

The red door on Moore Street opens into a loud, wood-fired pizza shop that somehow became the definitive argument for Bushwick's whole self-image. It holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand, and the pies earn the pilgrimage: thin, blistered, unapologetically themselves. The room is industrial and a little ramshackle, the staff looks like they're in three different bands, and the wait can be long enough to reconsider your life choices. 13. Rank 2899. Snail Bar

    Natural Wine Bar

The snails are always on the menu, served in-shell with garlic confit and cashew miso butter, which tells you everything about this natural wine bar's sense of humor and ambition at once. The chef came up through serious kitchens, and the small plates land with a precision that the unfussy Shattuck Ave room does nothing to announce. The wine list runs deep on natural bottles, locals fill the parklet most nights, and the Michelin Guide gave it a Bib Gourmand.

  14. Rank 2899. The Noble South

    Modern Southern

Brick walls, wood tables, and a menu that changes with whatever the nearby farms are sending over, this New American restaurant on Dauphin Street has been quietly doing farm-to-table before the term became an eye-roll. The kitchen keeps things passionate rather than preachy, cycling through snacks, small plates, and entrees that land Gulf shrimp and blue crab alongside local grits. 15. A 25-story Brutalist tower near the Embarcadero that got a very good interior decorator, The Jay is a design-forward hotel where midcentury California aesthetics meet Japanese-American modernist influences, courtesy of AvroKO's Ruth Asawa-inspired rooms. Tone-on-tone colors, warm wood, and custom art fill even the smallest rooms, which still run over 400 square feet. Ask for something above the 15th floor and the Bay Bridge fills your window.

  16. Rank 2916. Rye Bunny

    New American

Drinks come to you while you're still in line, which tells you something about the priorities here. Rye Bunny is a counter-order, full-service-at-the-table comfort food spot in Adams Morgan, the kind of place where fried chicken arrives with chili jam and the pasta changes with whatever's good right now. The menu roams freely, seasonal and a little playful, without ever feeling like it's trying to impress you about it.

Suadero cooked in the previous day's tallow is the move at this casual taquería on North Lamar, where the Pérez family graduated from a truck to a brick-and-mortar without losing the neighborhood ease. A salsa macha built from more than seven chiles shows the kitchen's range without showing off. The New York Times named the suadero taco one of the best dishes eaten across the country in 2024, and the place made their 2026 Restaurant List.

  18. The braised local ram, processed at the WSU meat lab down the road, arrives on house-made pappardelle and sets the tone for this Greek-inflected American restaurant in Pullman. The menu reads approachable, roast chicken, pork chops, carbonara, but the kitchen's precision turns familiar dishes into the reason you drove here. Cocktails use house-made orgeat. A 2023 James Beard Nominee for Outstanding Hospitality, which tracks for a place this quietly obsessive.

  19. Rank 2919. Aga's

    Pan-Asian

A banquet hall moonlighting as a Pakistani-Indian restaurant, and the goat chops have made it to the New York Times. The dining room fills fast at lunch with big family-style spreads: kebabs, biryani, curries, and those charred chops that everyone orders. The service keeps pace even when the room is packed to the walls, which it usually is. Bullet naan seasoned with jalapeños and cilantro is a quiet reason to skip the rice entirely.

  22. A butcher counter at the front sets the tone: this West Village chophouse takes whole-animal cooking seriously, sending globally-inflected dishes through a five-course tasting menu or a looser à la carte spread. The baklava doughnut, crispy and honey-soaked, has a way of sticking in the memory. The chef was a James Beard nominee for Best Chef: Great Lakes. 24. A colonial-style waterfront resort on the Miles River where the Eastern Shore slows everything down considerably. The Inn at Perry Cabin has been around forever, holds a Forbes Four Star, and still carries a certain old-money ease through its rooms and grounds. Sailors, wedding parties, and weekend escapees from DC tend to share the dock views without anyone minding much. Chesapeake Bay is right there, and the pace makes that feel like the whole point.

  25. Two private beaches, one facing Nantucket Bay and one the Atlantic, which means you can always find a quiet side. The Wauwinet is a boutique resort tucked nine miles from Nantucket Town, with 32 rooms and four cottages, no children under twelve, and the kind of hush that feels almost conspiratorial. A Forbes Four Star and a Michelin Key. Guests come to go genuinely quiet, which is rarer than it sounds.

  26. Rank 2926. Bomb Bomb Bar

    Italian Bistro

South Philly red-sauce bar that has been around forever, bought and quietly restored by Joey Baldino, who has a gift for making a room feel like it never changed. The bones are exactly what you'd expect: dim, neighborhood, no-nonsense. The food is where things get interesting, with stuffed calamari and lobster Francesca that make the whole retro room suddenly feel like a serious argument. The New York Times put it on their 2026 Restaurant List, and that tracks.

  27. Sweet smoke from the grill drifts across a Highland Park parking lot, and the line at this taqueria doesn't move an inch. The queso taco, built on a blue corn masa tortilla and finished with a melted skirt of Monterey Jack, is the reason most people are here. The homemade salsas run from bright to ferociously spicy. A few picnic tables outside, a Bib Gourmand on the record, and tacos that arrive colorful and structurally ambitious.

  28. Rank 2928. Taqueria Frontera

    Baja Taqueria

The tortilla gets toasted in the fat dripping from the al pastor spit, which tells you most of what you need to know. This is a Tijuana-style taqueria doing the kind of taco that Tejal Rao named one of the best dishes she ate across the country in 2025, at $3.75 a pop. Two salsas, one creamy and calm and one aggressively hot, swirl together differently in every bite. Cash, counter, no fuss.

  29. Rank 2929. Bouchon

    Classic French

Blue velvet banquettes, wood-paneled columns, and vintage frescoes sit just off a casino floor that couldn't be further from Paris, which is exactly the joke Thomas Keller seems happy to lean into. Bouchon is a classic French brasserie where the staff wear bow ties and the cooking runs to escargots and crème brûlée done with care. The room transports; the slot machines do not.

  31. Check-in happens on the fourth floor of a glass tower, no credit card demanded at the door, just a welcome drink and a cool towel while your bags disappear ahead of you. It's a luxury hotel one block from the Jersey Shore, and it reads more like a borrowed beach house than a property, with plush settees, fireplaces, and coffee table books stacked just so. Manhattan is 75 minutes away, which the crowd seems to regard as a selling point rather than a commute. Michelin awarded it a Key.

  32. Floor-to-ceiling smart windows that use AI to regulate room temperature set the tone at this 17-story, two-tower hotel in Lake Nona, a tech-forward community about ten minutes from Orlando International. The architecture actually waves, which is either charming or on the nose depending on your mood. A sculpture garden, art collection, and a vivid pool area fill the grounds. It holds a Michelin Key.

    The awards

  33. A vineyard retreat spread across 450 rolling acres in the Virginia Highlands, Nicewonder is a Forbes Four Star boutique inn with 28 rooms, a handful of yurts, and a 13-acre working winery at its center. An infinity pool overlooks the vines, an Appalachian fine-dining restaurant is a few steps away, and the wine programming gives the whole stay a loose organizing principle. Communal fire pits and board games keep things grounded; the setting does the rest.

  34. The family owns a 68-foot harpoon fishing boat that works the Pacific for swordfish, which is a more convincing sustainability pitch than a wall decal. This fast-casual seafood spot in Uptown Plaza keeps the fish never-frozen and the menu wide, running from poke bowls and swordfish tacos to grilled oysters and a lobster BLT on weekends. The chef earned a James Beard semifinalist nod in 2026, which is notable for a counter-service fish place.

  35. Rank 2936. Ash'Kara

    Mediterranean

Wood-fired whole-grain pita, made from heritage wheat, is the opening argument at this neighborhood Mediterranean restaurant in the Highlands. The menu leans mezze, moving through hummus, baba ganoush, and falafel before settling into tagines for dinner, and it skews vegetable-forward throughout. The Michelin Guide gave it a Bib Gourmand, which tracks for a room this warm and a bill this reasonable.

The cooking roots itself in Jalisco's rancho traditions, so expect slow-roasted beef shank served with tortillas and brothy beans for an unapologetically hands-on meal. Portions are generous and prices are fair enough that the Michelin Bib Gourmand makes sense. Tables fill with families and groups in full celebration mode.

  37. Mariposa is a sit-down Latin grill on a Sedona hillside, drawing from Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay, with a menu built around steaks and seafood off a wood-fired grill. Expect a proper dinner at a proper price, with a patio where everyone ends up angling their chairs toward the scenery.

  39. A champagne vending machine and a few strategically placed skulls: Morning Glory knows exactly what it is. Perched in the Blue Ridge Mountains in the tiny, slightly-too-charming town of Highlands, Old Edwards Inn is a Forbes Four Star hotel where every room arrives with antiques, fine Italian linens, and complimentary champagne, which sets a tone the rest of the stay works hard to maintain. 46. Set on 2,200 acres of Allegheny Mountain terrain, The Grand Lodge at Nemacolin is a Forbes Four Star resort lodge that leans hard into the rustic-luxury thing, recently refreshed with updated rooms, an American steakhouse, and two bars. The whimsical interiors thread a needle between hunting-cabin warmth and genuine comfort, so it never feels like a theme park version of the outdoors. The grounds do most of the work once you're here.

  49. The hotel was built over the surf, not beside it, which is something you notice immediately when the sound of waves comes through the floor. It sits on historic Cannery Row as a full-service hotel with a spa, and the bay is less a view than a constant presence: otters and seals drift past while the concierge books kayaking or whale watching for guests who'd rather be out there than watching.

  50. The doorman in a ten-gallon hat sets the tone at this ski-in, ski-out resort at the base of Beaver Creek. Timber and stone outside nod to the national park lodge tradition, while inside the rooms run to leather chairs, dark wood, and beamed ceilings. The mountain-family itinerary is generous: fly fishing, an outdoor pool, golf, and slopes right out the door for anyone who came for the obvious reason.

  51. A 32-story tower on the white-sand stretch of Sunny Isles, this full-service beach resort sits just north of Bal Harbour and leans into the full Florida fantasy. Rooms come with wet bars and mini-fridges, the Aquanox Spa runs 8,000 square feet, and the water toys on offer run from kayaks to jet skis. Vietnamese

The boat-shaped building in Little Saigon runs the whole menu on a single dish: a garlic-crusted half chicken, fried crisp and lacquered in fish sauce, served with rice or a noodle soup sidecar and a chrysanthemum greens salad that quietly steals the table. The drinks list is broader than you'd expect, with Vietnamese iced coffee, pandan iced tea, and cocktails. Save room for the pandan waffles, or come just for those.

  53. Rank 2955. Yellow

    Levantine Bakery

Za'atar and labneh croissants sit next to a chocolate seven-spice cruffin in the pastry case, which tells you most of what you need to know about this fast-casual Levantine café in Ivy City. French technique carries the baked goods, while the kitchen leans into the Middle East for everything else. Evenings bring charcoal-grilled kebabs and meze from an open hearth, so the place quietly shapeshifts between breakfast spot and dinner counter without making a fuss about it.

  54. The architectural bar, deep honey-toned woods, and jacket-clad staff set the scene before you've even looked at the menu: this is a steakhouse and raw bar doing midcentury-modern decadence, and it commits fully. Seafood towers, caviar service, Australian wagyu, and martinis large enough to require a lifeguard. The room practically dares you to order the old fashioned and stop thinking about the bill. Wine Enthusiast named it a top new restaurant in 2025.

  56. Rank 2958. Koyote

    Japanese Noodle Shop

The chef spent time training in ramen shops in Japan before bringing the practice back to Salt Lake City, and the bowls at this counter-service ramen shop make that detour feel logical. No reservations, QR code ordering, and nobody minding either, because the chicken broth runs deep and the chashu pork is properly tender. Gyoza hold you over while you wait. The Michelin Guide has it selected, and the room fills fast on cold nights.

  57. Wood-fired dishes built around Midwestern ingredients anchor the menu at this glamorous but unhurried hotel restaurant inside the Hotel Kansas City. The chef's counter puts you close enough to the wood-burning hearth to watch the kitchen work with the quiet focus of people who know what they're doing. The dinner rolls alone, milled from heirloom Kansas wheat, make a case for the bread course. James Beard semifinalist nods have come for both the kitchen and the pastry side.

  59. None of the fish here is frozen, and much of it comes from Pacific Northwest waters, which is a quiet rebuke to the global omakase circuit. LTD Edition is an eight-seat counter omakase tucked into Seattle's Capitol Hill, where the chef runs the room with the easy confidence of someone who spent years in nightlife before discovering sushi. The New York Times put it on their restaurant list, and the Dungeness crab alone makes the case.

  61. Real butter and sugar go into the crawfish boil here, which tilts the whole thing sweeter than the standard Cajun approach. This Viet-Cajun seafood spot on Bellaire runs a long roster of sauces, from garlic butter to Thai basil, and lets you mix them into something entirely your own. The menu does what it promises and little else, which in this corner of Houston is plenty.

    Asian-Influenced Seafood

A BYOB fine dining room in Bella Vista small enough that the handwritten menus feel like personal notes from the kitchen. The chef's Asian-influenced seafood changes with the seasons, leaning into combinations that sound odd on paper and make obvious sense on the plate. Bring a bottle, settle in, and let the prix fixe do the work. A 2025 James Beard Outstanding Hospitality semifinalist, which tracks for a room this attentive.

  69. Chef Rocio Camacho has built a mole-focused Mexican restaurant in Bell Gardens around a question most kitchens dodge: why stop at one? The room is spare and unpretentious, the moles are not, running from an ink-dark Oaxaqueño to a spicy-sweet manchamanteles to a bright verde, each layered enough to hold your attention from first bite to last. 71. A delivery robot named Astro ferries forgotten phone chargers down the hallways, which tells you most of what you need to know about this tech-forward boutique hotel. The building is old-school San Francisco, right across from the Powell Street cable-car turnaround, with wrought-iron railings and marble that survived the 1906 earthquake. Rooms go calm and minimal in fog greys and powder blues. The Michelin Guide has it among its selected hotels.

  72. The ornate lobby, with its oak floors and chandeliers, survived a top-to-bottom renovation that also finally buried the Sir Francis Drake name. This grand hotel anchors the corner of Powell and Sutter with the kind of architectural confidence that makes Union Square feel like it has a spine. The Prohibition-era secrets are still there if you go looking, and the rooftop bar at Starlite still has the panoramic hills view that makes locals pretend they're tourists.

  73. The Fairmont keeps its own rooftop bees, which tells you something about how seriously it takes the whole enterprise. This grand Nob Hill hotel has been around forever, stately enough to slow your pace the moment you walk into the lobby. Rooms lean elegant over flashy, with Frette linens and Le Labo amenities. The concierge is one of those genuinely useful ones who knows where locals actually eat, not just where tourists end up.

  74. The peacock-blue awning and manicured topiaries flanking the entrance give this Union Square hotel the feel of a very well-dressed New York apartment building. Inside, marble and a crystal chandelier are softened by orchids and deep couches, keeping the lobby intimate rather than grand. Rooms run warm and golden, with window seats and writing desks. The top-floor suite seats eight for dinner, in case you've overcommitted.

  75. House-made pasta runs nearly every plate at this Italian restaurant on South Downing, from bronze-die extruded gemelli to hand-shaped tortellini filled with braised duck. The kitchen moves between classic and globe-trotting without apology, and the flavors stay assertive either way. The cocktail list holds its own as an aperitif program, and the hospitality is warm enough that a James Beard semifinalist nod for it makes complete sense.

  76. This is a 20-seat Thai restaurant behind an unmarked door that gives off abandoned-7-Eleven energy, with scotch-taped wallpaper inside and a kitchen that serves spicy food until 2am every night. The wine list is a James Beard semifinalist for Outstanding Professional in Beverage Service, heavy on Riesling for putting out the fire. Off-duty sommeliers and chefs fill the room, which tells you where the industry eats after its own shift.

An Italian diner doing a spaghetti Western impression, Cosmica landed on the New York Times Restaurant List for 2025 and earns the attention. The Central Ninth spot is big, kitschy, and photogenic in a way that stops short of feeling calculated, with housemade pastas, wood-fired Neapolitan pies, and a clam pizza finished with salsa verde that quietly steals the table. The "House Puffy Bread" arrives straight from the oven, hot enough to make you burn your fingers.

  79. An arch of roses at the door signals exactly the kind of bakery this is: one where the pastries look almost too considered to eat. Antonio Bachour's Coral Gables shop holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand, and the counter seats face a glass-enclosed kitchen where those famously ornate croissants and tarts take shape. There's savory food too, but everyone here has already mentally committed to dessert before they've sat down.

  81. The lobby never quite decides if it's a hotel or a party, which is exactly the point. Ace Hotel New York anchors NoMad with a ground floor that shifts from laptop-open co-working in the afternoon to a full DJ set by midnight, all without anyone changing rooms. The rooms upstairs are what you'd expect from the chain that made "hip hotel" a genre: raw edges, good sound systems, and guests who pack light.

  82. A graffiti installation called the Museum of Street Art lines the walls, which feels right for a hotel sitting on the Bowery. citizenM keeps things pod-sized and self-serve: contactless check-in, wall-to-wall king beds that eat most of the room, and a clean modern bathroom. When the walls close in, the Living Room downstairs absorbs you, with a grab-and-go bar alongside. The New Museum is a block north, and the Lower East Side is right outside.

  83. Bunk rooms in a Manhattan hotel, by choice, designed by Roman and Williams, the firm behind some of the city's more coveted boutique addresses. Freehand is a Gramercy Park hotel that solved the New York math problem: style without the rate that requires a corporate card. Simple wood furniture, art by Bard students, and a George Washington Bar downstairs that stays classic without trying too hard.

  84. John Cage's 4'33" is a listed design inspiration, which tells you most of what you need to know about this minimalist hotel on the Bowery. Rooms are bento-box small but composed with care, and the bigger configurations fit a whole touring band. A rooftop bar on the 11th floor and a garden-patio restaurant downstairs mean you don't have to wander far, though the Lower East Side makes wandering very easy.

  85. The family behind Chula has been fishing the Pacific Coast for years and ships the catch straight to their seafood counter and casual restaurant in north Scottsdale's Grayhawk area. The menu rotates with whatever's fresh off the boat, so the poke and sashimi selections shift constantly. The green chile tuna melt, made with confited albacore and Hatch chiles, landed on Phoenix Magazine's Top 100 Dishes list.

    Steakhouse Korean

The dry-aged beef is displayed behind glass like jewelry, which tells you exactly where you are: a Korean steakhouse inside the Venetian that takes itself seriously without apologizing for it. The Butcher's Feast is the move, a family-style spread of kimchi stew and egg soufflé before the real business, premium wagyu and prime cuts cooked tableside by a service team that clearly rehearsed.

  87. Rank 2990. Georgia Boy

    Contemporary American

A secret door hidden in a bookshelf is how you get to the table, which tells you everything about the mood here. Georgia Boy is a reservation-only tasting menu restaurant tucked inside Southern Belle, where dinner starts in a library with drinks and snacks until you find the chef's favorite book on the shelf. The cooking runs from playful to genuinely strange, and the room seems designed to make you feel like a child who stumbled into the right wardrobe.

  88. Plastic dinosaurs lined up on the ledge, a letterboard menu that changes whenever it feels like it, and a taproom that still reads as someone's living room because it used to be one. This community-focused brewpub in Green Gables pours the Spellbinder hazy IPA alongside a rotating cast of fruit-forward beers, and food trucks regularly pull up out front to fill the gap. Small, friendly, and a little cluttered in the best way.

  89. Rank 2992. Hamsa

    Modern Middle Eastern

Hamsa is a modern Levantine restaurant in Rice Village where the pita arrives hot enough to require a short waiting period and the salatim keep coming until the table disappears. It's a sit-down place with a pretty dining room, a leafy patio, and a bakery next door for a cardamom bun on the way out. Lunch here becomes an outing, which your calendar may not have authorized.

  90. Rustic wood-panel art in the cathedral-ceilinged lobby came from an old picket fence, which tells you something about how this 154-room lakefront resort wears its money. Edgewood Tahoe sits on Lake Tahoe's south shore, surrounded by pines, with a George Fazio golf course rolling down to the water. A Forbes Four Star and a Michelin Key. 93. The concept here is a Japanese jazz kissa, a vinyl-focused listening bar, filtered through a chef who thinks huitlacoche and yuzu belong on the same plate. The food runs "Nikkei-Mexa," meaning Mexican and Japanese ingredients trading places freely, and the cocktails follow the same logic: sotol meets sake, charanda meets shochu. The room is small and modern, the cooking precise, and the mood falls somewhere between a serious dinner and a genuinely good time. A Michelin Selected restaurant, and a Bon Appétit best new restaurant pick a few years back. Wear something nice and leave the night open.

  95. Soaring windows, brick fireplaces, and balconies stacked on balconies give this boutique resort the feel of a grand estate that wandered into the Florida Panhandle pines. Camp Creek Inn holds a Forbes Four Star and earns it with a lazy river, two zero-entry pools, an 18-hole course, and pickleball courts, all wrapped in a palette of warm wood and cream that makes checkout feel optional.

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. The places are 60% of it: the best of what's within reach, weighed by distance. The setting is the other 40%: how life goes in that country (how people rate their own lives, how long and how well they live, how safe they are) and what it's like right there (the air, and the weather). If the score looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
