  1. Duck dusted with jerk seasoning, served alongside rice and peas and Haitian pikliz, tells you what kind of neighborhood restaurant this is: one where the African diaspora, South Asia, and the Caribbean are all at the same table. The team behind Comfort Kitchen, one Ghanaian, one Nepali, traces how ingredients moved across continents through trade and forced migration. A James Beard nominee, and a New York Times pick for Boston's best right now.

  2. Ski-in/ski-out access to Big Sky Resort, three fly-fishing rivers nearby, and a Tom Weiskopf golf course next door keep the itinerary full at this Forbes Five Star, Michelin Key mountain resort. When you come in from the cold, the walls of windows, deep leather chairs, and roaring fires make sure you know you're still in Montana, just a warmer version of it. The spa runs to 11,000 square feet, in case the slopes weren't enough.

  3. Rank 1403. Dame

    Seafood

A quaint seafood restaurant on MacDougal where the wine list is sorted by whether you'd rather be James Bond or Austin Powers, and that tracks with everything else here. The fish and chips, a hake fillet in lacey batter, is what put the place on the map when it was still a pop-up. The menu turns with the season, the room is small and blue-and-white, and getting a table requires actual planning.

  4. There's no sign at the end of the drive, which tells you something about the clientele. This Forbes Five Star Adirondack camp resort sits on a private peninsula of Upper Saranac Lake, stone fireplaces and twig furniture in every room, and guests dress for black-tie dinner twice a week around a communal table. Snowshoeing, croquet, and champagne at 4 a.m. are all equally on offer, which is roughly the point.

    The awards

  5. A Forbes Five Star ranch resort spread across 6,600 acres between the Pintler and Sapphire ranges, where the dress code is essentially "do you own a vest." Granite Lodge anchors it all, a two-story stone and timber building with a massive hearth, game tables, and guest rooms named for horse breeds and firearms. Days go toward trail riding or skiing; evenings toward Missoula Mules beside the fire, which is a perfectly reasonable way to end up in Montana.

    The awards

  6. A converted 1901 factory building in Williamsburg with 13-foot ceilings, original wood beams, and floor-to-ceiling windows framing the Manhattan skyline. The Wythe holds a Michelin Key, and the in-house credentials are real: Le Crocodile, the French brasserie downstairs, draws its own crowd, and Bar Blondeau on the sixth floor has views that make the room feel optional. Industrial-chic without the irony quotes, and about as Williamsburg as a hotel gets.

  7. Rank 1407. Cochon

    Cajun & Creole

A converted warehouse in the Central Business District, Cochon does Southern cooking with a Louisiana accent: wood-fired oysters, fried alligator, gumbo loaded with house-made andouille, and rabbit and dumplings pulled from the chef's family recipes. The cracklins with Steen's cane syrup make a strong case for arriving hungry. The whiskey and bourbon list is long enough to make the decision feel important. It holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand.

  8. A little bungalow turned Peruvian ceviche bar where the kitchen leans hard into citrus-cured fish, leche de tigre in several forms, and a pisco sour menu that makes the decision-making easy. The cooking draws from the owners' Peruvian roots, and the flavors are bright and punchy in a way that earns that description. A James Beard nominee two years running, and the cute patio fills up fast.

  10. Reclaimed wood and polished concrete set the tone at this eco-minded luxury resort on Collins Avenue, where the design borrows from surf culture and the building materials were sourced before the Instagram grid was even a concept. It occupies a full city block of beachfront with Atlantic views on one side and the Biscayne Bay skyline on the other, and carries a Michelin Key. The crowd arrives with reusable water bottles and very good luggage.

  11. Kelly Wearstler folded a 1920s Spanish Colonial building into a new construction on Wilshire, which is a neat trick and exactly the kind of thing you notice when you check in. The boutique hotel sits a few blocks from the beach, rooms running bright whites and sand-colored fabrics with vintage furniture doing its best to look casual about it. The rooftop bistro draws nightly crowds and Surya Spa has a following. Michelin awarded it one Key.

  12. The pink stucco towers have been sitting at the foot of Cheyenne Mountain long enough that the mountains feel like a backdrop the resort commissioned. This Forbes Five Star destination resort sprawls across thousands of acres and treats activity planning as a competitive sport: falconry, zip lines, golf, fly fishing, pickleball, a movie theater, and bowling all coexist without apology. "Bottle Alley," a glassed-in Prohibition-era wine cache, lines the walls of the main building.

  13. House-pressed coconut milk in the curries is the kind of detail that tells you everything about Talat Market's approach. This no-reservations Thai restaurant in Summerhill pairs Georgia produce with traditional Thai flavors in a room that splits the difference between industrial and vintage. The chef earned a James Beard nomination in 2024. Go for the curries and the som tum, and expect heat you'll want to chase with the fruit salad.

  14. Savory rosette cookies arrive first at most tables, which tells you something about the chef's sense of humor and ambition. Atoma is a fine dining spot tucked into a converted Craftsman home in Wallingford, running a hyperseasonal Pacific Northwestern menu that's formal enough to take seriously and loose enough to actually enjoy. A James Beard nominee, it draws the kind of crowd that knows exactly where Canlis is, which is where the chef came from.

  15. Rank 1416. Delilah

    American

You descend a staircase into a room held up by 40-foot cast brass palms and malachite-inlaid tables, which sets the tone pretty efficiently. Delilah is a supper club inside the Wynn that leans hard into old Vegas glamour, the kind of room that makes you feel underdressed even when you're not. The beverage program earned a James Beard nomination. Dress up; this is not a jeans situation.

  16. A converted firehouse turned wine bar with a retail shop stocking over 200 bottles you can also drink on the spot. The menu rotates around whatever the chef's neighbor harvests from the garden across the street, which keeps things genuinely seasonal in a way most places only claim. The backyard runs to lawn chairs and picnic blankets, with DJs on weekends. It landed on the New York Times Restaurant List and Bon Appétit's Best New Restaurants in the same year.

The room offers an open kitchen with counter seats, a cocktail bar, and two dining rooms, one with communal tables. The Michelin Guide awarded it a Bib Gourmand. Melissa Miranda's cooking stays rooted in Filipino flavors while letting dishes go wherever they want, so a side of greens in adobo can quietly outshine everything else on the table. 20. Rank 1421. Saffron NOLA

    New Orleans Indian Bistro

The copper accents and rich-hued interior visible through the Magazine Street window signal a sophisticated Indian restaurant that takes New Orleans ingredients as seriously as its spice rack. A family-run kitchen, it finds the overlap between Indian classics and Southern tradition, landing somewhere around curried seafood gumbo, which shouldn't work as well as it does. A James Beard nominee and a New York Times pick for the city's best.

  21. Rank 1423. Hav & Mar

    Ethiopian

The bread basket alone, a trio of lentil roti, oat porridge crisp, and teff biscuit, tells you exactly what Marcus Samuelsson and chef Fariyal Abdullahi are doing here. Hav & Mar is a minimalist seafood restaurant in Chelsea where Ethiopian and Swedish traditions fold into each other without apology or explanation. A James Beard Emerging Chef nominee in 2024, Abdullahi runs a room that feels personal rather than concept-driven.

  24. Rank 1426. Pancita

    Northwest Mexican

The kitchen grinds and nixtamalizes heirloom corn daily, which means every tortilla at this innovative Mexican restaurant starts from scratch in a way that most places quietly gave up on long ago. Chef Janet Becerra, a James Beard Emerging Chef nominee, brings European fine-dining technique to cauliflower al pastor tacos and tuna tostadas with morita Kewpie mayo. The room is cozy and the crowd is lucky to have found it.

  25. Floor-to-ceiling windows look straight across the East River at the Lower Manhattan skyline, a view few New York hotels can match. This eco-minded luxury hotel sits at the edge of Brooklyn Bridge Park, where salvaged materials and low-impact design feel less like a brand statement and more like a natural fit for a waterfront that was industrial wasteland not so long ago. The Michelin Guide awarded it a Key.

  26. Rank 1428. Copra

    South Indian

The name refers to dried coconut meat, which tells you roughly where the kitchen's head is at. Srijith Gopinathan's South Indian restaurant fills a lush, two-story corner room in the Fillmore that photographs well and eats even better. The sharing menu runs from a palette of housemade chutneys with pappadom to shell-on crab curry, the kind of sticky, tamarind-dark sauce that renders your outfit a casualty. A James Beard semifinalist and ranked fourth on the Chronicle's Bay Area top 100.

  27. Fifteen minutes north of South Beach, which is just far enough to feel like a different city, this oceanfront luxury resort sits two rooms per floor along the Atlantic, so the building never feels like a scrum. The two-story lobby leans into the drama with jatoba columns, leather walls, and an Ed Moses canvas you can't miss. A Forbes Four Star property, closed for renovations through late 2026, so time your visit accordingly.

  28. The signature juice, Ji, sits bottled in the retail section alongside coffee beans and condiments from a sister market, which tells you this is a place with a community idea behind it. Baobab Fare is a Burundian restaurant on Woodward, one of very few in the country, serving slow-roasted goat, pan-fried chicken in mustard-onion sauce, and a coconut-mango dessert that has no business being this good. A James Beard Nominee for Outstanding Restaurateur.

  29. Rank 1432. Gemma

    Contemporary American Bistro

A warm raisin scone arrives before you've even looked at the menu, which tells you everything about the priorities at this intimate neighborhood bistro tucked into Henderson Avenue. The contemporary American cooking leans seasonal and unfussy, and the hospitality earned a James Beard nomination to prove it's not an accident. The Michelin Guide gave it a Bib Gourmand, and the room fills with the kind of regulars who stopped reading the menu months ago.

  30. Rank 1433. Eylan

    Indian

A whole sea bream arrives at this contemporary Indian restaurant still wearing the grid lines from the wood-fired grill, which tells you most of what you need to know about the kitchen's approach. Srijith Gopinathan, the chef behind Palo Alto's Ettan, blends regional Indian cooking with California ingredients, and the Bib Gourmand and a James Beard nomination for Outstanding Restaurateur followed. It sits inside a Menlo Park development where you can buy a Swiss watch on the way in.

  31. Every room has a balcony facing the Atlantic, which is a strong opening move for a Forbes Four Star hotel on Fort Lauderdale Beach. The Ritz-Carlton here runs the full playbook: Frette linens, a sprawling spa, and an on-site seafood restaurant with a wine room staffed by a sommelier who actually wants to talk. The crowd skews toward people who packed nicer luggage than you did, but the ocean view is the same for everyone.

  32. Four golf courses on 800 acres tell you what this resort prioritizes, and everything else, the rooms, the spa, the pool complex, the dining, gets scaled to match. Trump National Doral Miami sits about eight miles from the airport and twenty minutes from the beach, close enough to Miami without actually being in it. A Forbes Four Star resort that runs large in every direction, it draws golfers, families, and business travelers who want serious amenities without a South Beach scene.

    The awards

  33. The hotel has its own resident dog, Georgie, available for guest cuddles, which tells you something about how seriously the Fairmont takes its wellbeing pitch. This Georgetown hotel is a comfortable, upscale base for the city, with spacious rooms and a three-floor wellness center running a 50-foot saltwater pool, sauna, steam room, and spin classes. A renovated lobby and courtyard bar draw the power-lunch crowd even when they're not staying over.

  34. A 52-floor tower built from the ground up in Streeterville, a few blocks east of the Mag Mile and a short walk to Navy Pier. The hotel leans into Chicago's architectural legacy with design choices that feel considered rather than corporate, and a 75-foot lap pool and rooftop lounge raise the stakes for an urban stay. Business travelers and weekenders both find their footing here without too much awkward overlap.

    The awards

  35. The atrium lobby sits inside what was once Portland's grandest department store, glazed terra cotta still gleaming nine floors up. The Nines is a luxury hotel that leans into that past without turning itself into a museum, placing commissioned work from local artists alongside the occasional artfully staged mannequin. In a city where a flannel shirt passes for formal wear, the place offers a quiet, unapologetic dose of glamour.

  36. The hotel sits inside Water Tower Place, which means stepping off the elevator lands you in a shopping mall with over 125 stores, and stepping outside puts Chanel, Cartier, and the Art Institute within a few blocks. It's a luxury hotel on the Magnificent Mile, so the Gold Coast energy is built in. Rooms run at Ritz-Carlton prices, and the location does a lot of the justifying for them.

    The awards

  37. Mid-century lines, leather and velvet, and eclectic artwork set the tone in the lobby of this boutique hotel tucked into the Gold Coast, where historic mansions and designer boutiques crowd the sidewalk outside. The 247 rooms lean luxe without tipping into stiff, the vibe is hip without the velvet-rope attitude, and a complimentary Lexus house car is the kind of quiet flex that earns its keep. Nico Osteria draws locals in off the street.

  38. Perched on a 150-foot bluff above the Pacific, this Forbes Four Star resort has been the Southern California coastal fantasy since forever, and a recent head-to-toe renovation leaned hard into the setting. Rooms run sage, sky blue, and petal pink; the spa goes jewel-toned and misty. The lobby on a weekend holds a cheerful cross-section of the country, united by saltwater taffy at check-in and strong opinions about which pool to claim.

  39. Rank 1442. Llama Inn

    Peruvian

  40. A large spinning rotisserie dominates the open kitchen at this Capitol Hill New American restaurant, and the menu more or less organizes itself around it. The duck is the obvious move, but seasonal Mid-Atlantic produce does serious supporting work throughout. The room is spare, which keeps the focus where the kitchen wants it. The New York Times put it on their D.C. shortlist, and a 2024 James Beard nomination for Outstanding Restaurateur followed.

  41. The line forms before the doors open, which tells you something about a strip-mall pizzeria in suburban Maryland. Tony Conte left fine dining to make neo-Neapolitan pies here, and the blistered crusts show it. A James Beard nominee and a spot on 50 Top Pizza USA, the place punches well past its zip code. The roasted potato and onion pizza, fragrant with rosemary, was named one of the DC area's favorite dishes of 2025.

    Levantine

Emmett is a Kensington restaurant that treats the Levant as a starting point and then wanders off through France, Italy, and the American South without a map. The cocktail list includes a lamb fat washed rye, so the bar is also in on it. Dinner here is a sit-down affair, polished and on the pricier side, and the James Beard folks nominated it for Best New Restaurant. The main problem is ordering a reasonable amount.

The minimalist space is deliberate, meant to keep your focus exactly where he wants it. 45. Rank 1449. Nodoguro

    Japanese

Each dinner follows a literal script, with courses named Acts I through V and a menu built around a short story or novel that changes every six weeks. Nodoguro is an intimate Japanese omakase tucked into a downtown building, where the chef composes each plate in front of you at the bar. Ryan Roadhouse sources his rice from Hokkaido, and the whole thing moves with the quiet precision of someone who has thought very hard about the order of things.

  46. Rank 1450. Kaya

    Modern Filipino

A small bungalow in Orlando's Mills 50 district, Kaya runs a modern Filipino tasting menu that moves through multiple courses with a rotating cast of local seafood and central Florida produce. The kitchen riffs on classic Filipino flavors rather than replicate them, and the open kitchen keeps things convivial for a neighborhood spot. A James Beard nominee, it draws the kind of crowd that actually reads the menu before they sit down.

  47. The bar stocks around 150 agave spirits, which tells you something about where the priorities lie at this NoDo Mexican restaurant. The interior channels Tulum and Quintana Roo in a way that makes you want to stay for another mezcal cocktail. The kitchen works through Mexico's regional traditions, from Veracruz to the coasts, and the chapulines, tiny fried grasshoppers seasoned with tamarind and chili, are offered completely without apology.

Ettan is an upscale Indian restaurant in downtown Palo Alto where chef Srijith Gopinathan builds a Cal-Indian menu around coastal Keralan cooking and whatever California farms are doing that week. The two-level room, dressed in indigo fabric and beaded chandeliers, draws Desi families for milestones and couples who like their date nights with some drama.

  49. Rank 1453. Hugo's

    Mexican

Chef Hugo Ortega's flagship is a dressy, sit-down Mexican restaurant on Westheimer that's been the city's go-to for regional cooking for what feels like forever. Brunch pulls a crowd on both days, Saturday à la carte and Sunday buffet with live music. Dinner runs deeper, with dishes like cabrito roasted and pulled from the bone. Persian

Nasim Alikhani spent decades as a home cook in the Iranian diaspora before opening this Persian restaurant in Park Slope at 58, which explains why the food feels like someone's mother finally decided to show the city what she'd been holding back. Whitewashed brick, marble bar, black wood beams. The kitchen is faithful to Persian tradition but loose enough to foam a yogurt or call a pomegranate-marinated rib-eye a kebab. A James Beard nominee for Best Chef New York State.

  51. A welcome sangria at the door, a poem written for the menu, and a bouquet arranged by the chef's mom set the tone at this intimate tasting menu spot tucked behind an unremarkable door on Madison. The chef earned a James Beard nomination in 2026, and the kitchen rotates its menu completely every few weeks, chasing the season. A four-course tasting menu in Bay View where the chef's Top Chef celebrity lands a little lighter than you'd expect. Dan Jacobs and Dan Van Rite run a focused, seasonal room, the kind where you follow the menu wherever it leads, from liver mousse and shrimp toast toward squash with red curry or something involving boudin blanc. A James Beard Nominee for Best Chef Midwest, the duo earns the room's easy trust.

  54. Rank 1458. AMA Sushi

    Edomae Sushi

The scalloped sushi bar inside Rosewood Miramar's moody Japanese-house dining room sets the mood before a single piece of fish lands. AMA is a hotel sushi shop doing edomae-style nigiri, available à la carte or as a full omakase. The name nods to Japan's legendary female pearl divers, and the vibe follows through, all dark wood and lantern light. The Michelin Guide lists it among its selected restaurants.

  55. A marble bar, duck fat fries, and oysters on the half shell make a strong case for showing up before dinner even starts. Elvie's is a French-leaning bistro that moves easily from morning pastries through a cheery lunch to a more polished evening service. The Michelin Guide gave it a Bib Gourmand, the New York Times put it on their Restaurant List, and a James Beard nomination followed. 56. Flowers cascade through the lobby and gardens wind between the buildings, giving this Beverly Hills luxury hotel the feel of a greenhouse that happens to offer room service. Rodeo Drive is a short walk away for anyone who brought a serious credit card. The fourth-floor pool draws a loyal mix of locals and guests, and the patio at Culina stays busy with people who know exactly what they're doing on a Tuesday afternoon.

  57. Perched on a ridge above Batiquitos Lagoon, this Forbes Four Star resort near San Diego keeps guests busy enough that leaving feels optional. An Arnold Palmer-designed golf course, a 15,000-square-foot spa, six tennis courts, and a croquet lawn cover the bases, with mountain-to-Pacific views doing the rest of the convincing. Fine dining and casual spots are both on-site, so you can calibrate the formality as you go.

  58. One causeway separates Key Biscayne from downtown Miami, but the island reads more like the Caribbean than South Florida. This Forbes Four Star resort spreads across oceanfront acres with a vast spa, twin pools, and an eleven-court tennis complex that signals how seriously guests take their leisure. Rooms run to colonial-inflected pastels and breezy fabrics, and the dining options cover everything from coastal American to a beachfront Mexican spot.

  59. The dining room runs peach and carrot tones with a retro-meets-modern feel that signals a proper occasion, and the uniformed servers confirm it. This is upscale New American with a wink: potato "churros" with caramelized onion dip, roasted chicken with sauce vin jaune, a chocolate candy bar for dessert. The chef is a James Beard Emerging Chef nominee, and the Michelin Guide has taken notice. Prices are serious, but so is the kitchen.

  60. Rank 1472. Lagniappe Bakehouse

    Southern Bakery

The Vaucroissant, a lattice croissant stuffed with sausage from Vaucresson's, a venerable Black-owned Seventh Ward institution, is a good place to start understanding what this neighborhood bakery is doing. The chef, a former dancer, bakes with a historian's eye: benne seeds on toffee cookies, cornbread muffins wrapped in their own husks. A 2025 James Beard Emerging Chef nominee, she's built something that tastes like New Orleans and remembers where it came from.

    Creative American

Dark walls covered in Japanese murals set the mood at this Chinatown fine dining spot, where the kitchen blends Vietnamese, Mexican, Italian, and Japanese influences into something that shouldn't work as well as it does. An open fire does a lot of the heavy lifting. The chef earned a James Beard nomination for Best Chef Southwest, which tracks for a room this quietly serious about food that refuses to settle on any one identity.

  63. Rank 1475. The Morris

    Rustic European Bistro

The smoked duck, with its lacquered, crackling skin, is the thing people come back for at this Mission bistro. A veteran sommelier opened it and named it after his father, so naturally the wine list punches well above neighborhood-bar weight. The cooking is unfussy California bistro food, heavy on charcuterie and good meat. Warm without trying, the kind of room that makes a Tuesday feel like a reasonable night out.

  64. Rank 1476. Barolo Grill

    Northern Italian

White tablecloths, candlelight, and a wine list so deep in Barolo it borders on a personal obsession: this Cherry Creek fine dining room has been a northern Italian anchor in Denver for as long as anyone can remember. The front-of-house team takes annual trips to Europe, and it shows in a warmth that never tips into theater. The four-course degustazione with pairings is the move, though grazing at the bar on a weeknight has its own quiet appeal.

  65. The red awnings and sweep of red carpet announce this grand Back Bay hotel before you've even reached the door. Inside, the lobby is all ornate plasterwork and soaring ceilings, the kind of architecture that has made it a recurring film location and a perennial power-lunch backdrop for Bostonians. The guest rooms have been refreshed without scrubbing away the old-money atmosphere that makes the place worth staying in over a newer option.

  66. The Heathman has been anchoring Portland's performing arts district long enough that the neighborhood grew up around it. It's a boutique hotel in the truest sense, with rooms that feel considered rather than corporate, and the kind of downtown location that puts you within walking distance of theaters, museums, and serious dinners. The renovation leaned hard into sustainability, which fits Portland's self-image perfectly. Headwaters downstairs handles Pacific Northwest seafood when you don't want to go far.

The boutique hotel sits in downtown Charleston with more than 300 pieces of original art chosen by the family that owns it. Upstairs, a rooftop bar cuts against all the colonial gravity. Grill 225 handles steaks on the ground floor for anyone who needs grounding.

  69. String lights and vivid artwork set the tone at this colorful Indian street food restaurant in Decatur, where the menu reads like a series of small arguments for ordering just one more plate. The kitchen leans on local, seasonal ingredients for its South Asian cooking, and the format works as well for two as for a full table going family-style. A James Beard semifinalist and Michelin selected, it draws a crowd that tends to ignore the menu only because they already know what they want.

Hugo Ortega's Oaxacan restaurant inside the Marriott Marquis is the kind of place that makes you think differently about mole, a sauce most people treat as a single thing rather than a whole universe. The kitchen explores that universe seriously, working through pipián, mole negro, and variations in between. A James Beard Outstanding Pastry Chef nominee rounds out a meal that doesn't skimp on the sweet end. The Sunday brunch draws a devoted crowd.

    Filipino

Filipino cooking in a small Spring Street dining room where many tables just order the whole menu. Chef Nikko Cagalagan, a 2024 James Beard Emerging Chef nominee, runs the kitchen on induction burners and a small oven, which explains either the focus or the ambition, probably both. The dishes read like home cooking filtered through a chef's eye, precise in portion and element count, and grounded in local pork, oysters, and fish.

  72. The restroom walls are lined with illustrated wine descriptions, which tells you exactly what kind of neighborhood restaurant this is. A cozy Columbia Heights pasta house and wine bar, Reveler's Hour runs a rotating slate of seasonal Italian small plates under arched ceilings and muted green tiles. The sommelier who co-owns the place steers you toward bottles you've never encountered, and the housemade pasta is the thing to build an order around.

The Lebanese restaurant in the 15th and 15th neighborhood keeps one of the largest Mediterranean wine and beer lists in the country, with bottles pulled from Lebanon, Morocco, and Greece. It's the kind of casual spot where a meal properly starts with dips and works toward a braised lamb shank. The chef earned a James Beard nomination in 2024, which feels about right for a room that takes traditional Lebanese cooking this seriously.

Potato-stuffed puris doused in yogurt and tamarind are the opening argument at this Indian street food spot tucked into Union Market. The room is loud and color-splashed in the way that makes you feel like you showed up underdressed no matter what you're wearing. Meherwan Irani, a James Beard Award winner for his Asheville original, brought the concept north, and the DC version has carved out its own following among the city's suddenly crowded field of Indian restaurants.

The entire room is wood-plank from floor to ceiling, which either reads as cozy or a fire hazard, depending on your mood. This West Randolph wine restaurant has been packed since forever, with regulars jostling for counter stools and close-set tables to graze through a seasonal Mediterranean menu. Woodford F&B is a neighborhood restaurant where the chef, a James Beard nominee, turns out unfussy food with serious technique: charcuterie with a devoted following, a brisket burger stacked high, a croque-monsieur that earns the trouble. Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. The places are 60% of it: the best of what's within reach, weighed by distance. The setting is the other 40%: how life goes in that country (how people rate their own lives, how long and how well they live, how safe they are) and what it's like right there (the air, and the weather). If the score looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
