  1. A different stew goes on every day at this warm, brick-walled neighborhood restaurant tucked into Logroño's old quarter near the cathedral. The kitchen leans hard on Riojan market produce and the kind of home-style cooking that's been quietly refined rather than reinvented. The Michelin Guide awarded it a Bib Gourmand, which tracks: the food is serious without the room taking itself too seriously.

  2. Rank 490. La Cosmo

    Seafood

A few steps behind Malaga's cathedral, La Cosmo is a casual Andalusian spot with an open kitchen and a white-walled room that puts the sourcing front and center. Chef Dani Carnero, who runs a small empire in the city, keeps things looser here: local seafood, Malaga tradition, no fuss. Pull up a stool at the bar and watch the line work. It holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand.

    The awards

  3. Rank 490. La Cuchara de Ruba

    Aragonese Spanish

In a small Pyrenean town where everyone seems to know everyone, this casual dining room carries the name of a local hospitality legend and runs a menu that changes nearly every day. The kitchen leans on Upper Aragón tradition but isn't stuck there, and the Bib Gourmand from Michelin signals that the cooking punches well above the price. Service is unhurried and informal, the kind where nobody's hovering.

    The awards

  4. The name translates roughly to "the spoon," and the kitchen takes that literally, building a menu of Córdoban classics and daily market specials around dishes that reward slow, unhurried eating. Two brothers run this modern Andalusian restaurant, one on each side of the pass, and the Michelin Guide has given it a Bib Gourmand. The salmorejo and the oxtail anchor the menu, though the specials board tends to make decisions harder.

  5. Rank 490. La Farola

    Spanish

A family bar that got a full reinvention when the next generation took over, La Farola is now a bright, contemporary restaurant in the Valencia highlands with a glass-fronted wine cellar and its own olive oil on the shelf. The menu moves between updated local recipes from the Alto Palancia and more far-flung ideas, all without making a fuss about the distance traveled. It holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand.

    The awards

  6. The dining room at La Fundición sits where the old forge used to be, and the building still looks like it means business. A short walk from the Royal Palace in La Granja, this contemporary restaurant earns a Michelin Bib Gourmand with a compact à la carte and a tasting menu called El Fundido. The cooking is precise and a little playful, the kind of place that makes you glad you wandered past the palace gates.

    The awards

  7. Rank 490. La Gruta

    Mediterranean French

A stone house in the center of L'Escala with a patio-terrace that does a lot of the heavy lifting. The chef coined his own term, "market bistronomy," which sounds like marketing until the food arrives, and then it sounds accurate. Set menus lean on local Mediterranean ingredients filtered through a French sensibility, and the front of house runs with the kind of warmth that makes you slow down. A Michelin Bib Gourmand.

  8. Rank 490. La Lechería

    Maragato Spanish

An old stone dairy turned rustic restaurant in a village the region knows better for its handwoven blankets. The dining room keeps the rough-hewn bones and adds a loom that's been around longer than the country itself. The kitchen leans into traditional Leonese cooking, with Cocido Maragato, the region's signature layered stew, available by pre-order. A Michelin Bib Gourmand, and there are a few guestrooms if you'd rather not drive back to Astorga.

    The awards

  9. Rank 490. La MaMá

    Traditional Spanish

A Bib Gourmand-holding dining room on Avenida de Brasil where the cooking leans into traditional Spanish recipes without apology. The room has a contemporary feel with just enough polish to signal that someone cares, and the menu gives you a choice: order à la carte or lean into one of two tasting menus, one built around the classics, one tracking the seasons. Neighborhood regulars and office lunchers from the surrounding streets fill it comfortably.

    The awards

  10. Rank 490. La Martina

    Modern Spanish

The dining room is set inside the owners' own home, which makes the fireplace feel less like a design choice and more like an accident of hospitality. This modern Spanish restaurant on the chaleted outskirts of Tarancón earns a Michelin Bib Gourmand for cooking that takes La Mancha's regional pantry seriously and runs it through a contemporary lens. The glass-fronted porch is where you want to sit when the weather allows.

  11. Game on the menu every day is the throughline at this family-run Madrid restaurant a short walk from the Retiro, which has been around forever and recently got a Nordic-inflected dining room to go with its refreshed bar. The cooking stays traditional, with an à la carte that leans old-school Spanish and set menus that draw regulars back reliably. The Michelin Guide awarded it a Bib Gourmand, which tracks with the honest-food, fair-price feel of the place.

  12. Rank 490. La Oveja Negra

    Modern Spanish

A tasting menu restaurant named for the black sheep, which is either self-aware or a little on the nose, probably both. The kitchen runs one menu, served at lunch and dinner, built around the produce of the Somontano de Barbastro region but pulling in southern Spanish influences from the chef's upbringing. The Michelin Guide awarded it a Bib Gourmand. It's a small, personal operation, and you feel that.

  13. Rank 490. La Rebotica

    Aragonese Spanish

A Spanish saying about bread, cheese, and wine greets you at the door of this regional restaurant set inside an old pharmacist's house in Cariñena wine country. The dining rooms occupy what were once the bedrooms, giving the whole place a pleasantly domestic feel. The kitchen leans hard into Aragonese tradition, borage and stewed meatballs and the slow-roasted local lamb that locals would consider non-negotiable. The Bib Gourmand fits. So do the regional wines.

  14. A frying pan name for a kitchen that refuses to stay in one lane: this fusion restaurant in Tres Cantos pulls from Latin America, Spain, and Asia in a single sitting. The chef builds an à la carte around sharing plates and off-menu dishes that change the whole calculus of ordering. The Michelin Guide gave it a Bib Gourmand, which tracks for a place where the cooking feels personal rather than performed.

  15. Rank 490. La Taberna de Almodóvar

    Regional Spanish

The mazamorra here predates salmorejo, or so Córdoba will tell you, and this family-run taberna is the place to take that claim seriously. It started as a grocery store in Almodóvar del Río and kept the soul of it, with tidy classic decor and regional cooking that doesn't wander far from local tradition. The Michelin Guide awarded it a Bib Gourmand, which tracks for a room where the croquettes are the opening argument.

    The awards

  16. A terrace, a bar with a lived-in local feel, and three dining rooms dressed in traditional Andalucian detail make up this well-loved village restaurant outside Córdoba. The cooking stays rooted in the region, leaning toward generous, carefully presented plates, and the croquettes have developed a reputation of their own around here. The Michelin Guide has given it a Bib Gourmand, which tracks for a place where the price never quite matches how good lunch gets.

  17. Tucked inside an equestrian club on the outskirts of Málaga, past the hills that cup the city, this relaxed Mediterranean restaurant earns a Michelin Bib Gourmand with slow-cooked, mostly grilled dishes built from local land and sea. 18. Rank 490. La Tarara

    Andalucian Spanish

Verses from García Lorca's old children's song are painted on the walls, which sets the tone for a restaurant that takes Andalucian tradition seriously without taking itself too seriously. It holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand for locally sourced cooking that updates regional classics, the kitchen drawing almost entirely from Cádiz province. The team came home after stints at well-known restaurants elsewhere in Spain, and it shows in a room that feels more contemporary than the plaza outside would suggest.

  19. On the outskirts of a tiny Zamora village, this simple rural restaurant sits under a gabled roof hung with old farm implements, the kind of room that makes you wonder how serious the kitchen is until you see what comes out of it. The chef works an open-ish line on updated Spanish classics, and the Michelin Guide gave it a Bib Gourmand. Worth noting: there's a nearby museum dedicated to scale models of battleships and trains, which pairs oddly well with lunch.

  20. Rank 490. La Vasca

    Traditional Spanish

A staircase lined with old family photos is how you enter this traditional Spanish restaurant, which has been feeding Miranda de Ebro for generations. 21. Rank 490. La Xarxa

    Seafood

The chef's father still takes his own boat out every morning, which explains a lot about what lands on the plate. This contemporary seafood restaurant near Tarragona's port has big round windows, a menu that nods to Asia with dumplings and Thai-inflected sauces, and some serious rice dishes. It started as a fishermen's bar and still carries that ease, even after a full generational overhaul. The Michelin Guide awarded it a Bib Gourmand.

  22. Rank 490. Laia Erretegia

    Basque Barbecue

A grill restaurant set in the old stables of a country house on the meadow-ringed outskirts of Hondarribia, near the French border. The kitchen speaks almost entirely in fire and dry-aged beef, with cuts aged well past the point most places would consider enough. Fish holds its own alongside the meat, and the sommelier treats the cellar as part of the meal rather than a footnote to it. Ranked third on the World's Best Steak Restaurants list.

  23. Rank 490. Lalola de Javi Abascal

    Traditional Spanish

A tasting menu built entirely around Iberian pork, desserts included, is either a provocation or a love letter, and at Lalola it reads as the latter. The restaurant sits inside a historic palace in the old city, its main dining room set under a covered patio that does most of the atmospheric heavy lifting. Traditional Spanish cooking with a modern lean, a Michelin Bib Gourmand, and an à la carte for anyone not ready to commit to pork from soup to nuts.

  24. Rank 490. Lana

    Argentine

Quebracho wood feeds the open grill at the center of this modern Argentine parrilla in Chamberí, and the smoke sets the tone for everything that follows. Cuts from Spanish and South American breeds are dry-aged in-house, then handed to fire with a disciplined calm. The menu reaches past beef into empanadas and charred vegetables that pull their weight. The wine list bridges both continents, chosen for the grill rather than the label. Ranked fifth on the World's Best Steak Restaurants list.

  25. Rank 490. Las Termas

    Regional Spanish

Cocido Maragato arrives here in reverse: meat first, then chickpeas, soup last, which is the traditional Maragatería order and reason enough to seek out this family-run restaurant near Gaudí's episcopal palace. Ochre walls and wood furniture set a properly unhurried tone for a regional lunch spot with a Michelin Bib Gourmand. The fixed-price menu includes wine and coffee, so the math is easy. They'll also sell you the chickpeas to take home, just in case.

  26. Rank 490. Las Tortillas de Gabino

    Traditional Spanish

The tortilla española is not a side dish here, it's the headline act, with a rotating cast of omelettes that goes well beyond the classic. This cosy Chamberí restaurant runs a traditional Spanish menu with a glass-fronted wine cellar and an open kitchen you can watch from either dining room. The Michelin Guide has given it a Bib Gourmand, and the siblings running it do so with a quiet, unhurried confidence that makes the whole place feel effortless.

    The awards

  27. Rank 490. Lavedán

    Aragonese Spanish

A former stable in the Aragonese Pyrenees that now turns out contemporary regional cooking rooted in mountain tradition. The team runs a tight, rustic room and a menu that updates the Pyrenean larder without losing its footing in it. Wild boar, elderberry, and the flavors of the valley show up across à la carte and set-menu formats. A Michelin Bib Gourmand, and the kind of place the locals in the valley treat as a given.

  28. Rank 490. Le Bistró

    Asturian

Fabada, tripe, pig's trotter and snout: Le Bistró announces its allegiances early. This casual Asturian spot shares a property with a fine-dining sibling but keeps its own rustic identity, running a menu built on regional cooking that doesn't flinch. The kitchen holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand, and the braised pitu de caleya chicken with mole sauce quietly tells the whole story of Asturian emigration to Mexico in a single dish.

  29. The motto here is "to share is to enjoy," which tells you everything about the room before you've sat down. This casual bistro in central Castelló runs on two surprise tasting menus, the chef threading Japanese and European ideas together with a precision that the relaxed setting quietly downplays. A Michelin Bib Gourmand, which tracks well with the whole ethos. Come with someone you actually like talking to.

  30. A rice casserole with butifarra confit and pork rib is the dish regulars quietly plan their visit around at this family-run Catalan restaurant in the Lleida countryside. 33. Rank 490. Los Sentidos

    Modern Spanish

The stone façade in the centre of Linares gives nothing away, but step inside and the dining room opens onto an internal patio, all clean lines and quiet light. This is a modern Spanish restaurant where the chef mines the culinary past of Jaén, reworking regional recipes with contemporary technique. The Bib Gourmand recognizes the kitchen's restraint. One tasting menu is built entirely around extra virgin olive oil, which is either a gimmick or a statement, depending on how you feel about Andalusia.

    The awards

  34. Rank 490. Macarraca

    Extremaduran Spanish

The restaurant takes its name from a nearly forgotten Extremaduran dish, which tells you everything about the agenda here. It's a straightforward dining room in Villanueva de la Serena where the team channels deep regional tradition through modern technique and local seasonal produce. The smoked cheese tart has apparently won enough awards to need its own shelf. The Michelin Guide has given it a Bib Gourmand, so the ambition outpaces the prices.

  35. A stone townhouse in the Sierra de Madrid foothills, with a terrace out front and a relaxed bistro inside that has no interest in impressing you with its decor. The menu is built for sharing, with portions sized down so the table can try more things, and the kitchen swaps dishes often, leaning on local ingredients before adding something unexpected. A Michelin Bib Gourmand for a mountain village bistro with this kind of technique is its own little argument.

  38. Rank 490. Mas Concas

    French influence Mediterranean

A centuries-old stone farmhouse outside L'Escala that was once the summer retreat of Catalan writer Víctor Català now serves Mediterranean food with a quiet French accent, a Michelin Bib Gourmand to its name. The dining rooms have high ceilings and thick walls, rustic but not precious about it. Set menus lean on local ingredients, and a rum baba shows up on the dessert menu as if no one finds that surprising.

  41. Rank 490. Memoria Gustativa

A bar up front and a plain dining room behind it make Memoria Gustativa look like a neighborhood taberna, which is exactly the point. The couple running it came up through serious restaurant kitchens, and they've channeled that into a tasting-menu format built around classic bar and tasca cooking, reread through technique. The chef's version of Cuenca cooking leans into hearty stews and venison, with a fireplace in the dining room that makes both make immediate sense. The terrace, partly glass-roofed with views over the hillside, is where you want to sit. The Michelin Guide has given it a Bib Gourmand.

The young team came up through serious kitchens before striking out on their own, and the cooking is rooted in Canarian ingredients handled with evident technical ambition. 47. Rank 490. Morro Tango

    Contemporary Spanish

A pedestrian street in Alfaro is an unlikely place to find a chef who trained under one of Spain's most celebrated cooks, but here we are. Morro Tango is a contemporary Spanish restaurant where the kitchen leans hard into Rioja's larder, shopping the market daily and keeping the menu rooted in local produce. The Michelin Guide recognized it with a Bib Gourmand. The stews are worth asking about specifically.

  48. The open kitchen sits behind the bar, which sets the tone for a casual taberna in Vigo where the cooking is quietly more ambitious than the room suggests. The chef puts a creative, street-food-inflected spin on modern Galician cooking, with a shareable à la carte and two tasting menus. A Michelin Bib Gourmand, and the kind of place where the smoked butter croquette with prawns ends up being the detail everyone mentions later.

The room runs across two floors with a bar up front and a terrace for summer, and the kitchen leans on Valle del Ambroz produce to update the Extremaduran classics without abandoning them. The crispy suckling pig, confit with orange, is a reason to stay for dinner. Michelin Bib Gourmand.

  53. The name means "dreamlike" in Catalan, which could easily be a red flag, but the food here earns the whimsy. This small, modern fusion restaurant in Barcelona's upper neighborhoods runs a tight menu and a handful of tasting options, with one chef cooking and one person running the room. The Michelin Guide gave it a Bib Gourmand, and the conger eel fritters with green curry and coconut explain why that feels about right.

  54. Rank 490. Origen

    Contemporary Spanish

Origen occupies the ground floor of an old stone building in Navarre, a rustic-contemporary dining room with bare wood tables and a fixed-price menu that lets you pick a starter, main, and dessert. The chef behind the two-Michelin-star kitchen upstairs runs this one too, just without the ceremony. Seasonal, locally sourced, regional at heart but quietly modern in execution. The Michelin Guide awards it a Bib Gourmand.

  55. A café-bar entrance opens into a bistro-style dining room where an open-kitchen anchors a single tasting menu that rotates every couple of months around whatever's seasonal and local. The family behind it has been at this address for generations, though the cooking has clearly moved on. Weekends bring an extensive brunch option if a full tasting menu feels like a commitment. It holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand.

  56. Rank 490. Pan de Cuco

    Regional Spanish

The name comes from a type of sorrel that grows in cornfields, which tells you something about how seriously this Cantabrian farmhouse restaurant takes its patch of land. Rustic dining room, gastro-bar with high tables for tapas and raciones, a terrace, and cooking that follows the season hard: local fish, steak tartare, stews built around the prized regional Pedresa chicken. It holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand.

  57. Rank 490. Pau

    Mediterranean

The rice dishes are what people come back for, though the kitchen earns its keep across the whole menu. This relaxed, modern Mediterranean restaurant in Benicarló holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand, built on local ingredients and a light touch of creativity. The chef moves between pass and dining room explaining dishes to tables, which sounds like it could be much but mostly isn't. Several set menus at lunch and two in the evening keep the decision-making manageable.

  58. Rank 490. Pementa Rosa

    Traditional Spanish

A family-run contemporary restaurant in the center of Carballo, named for the Galician word for pepper, which gives you a fair sense of where the kitchen's loyalties lie. The chef draws on the Costa da Morte's seasonal pantry and reworks regional classics with a light fusion touch, keeping the Galicia-first instinct intact. A Michelin Bib Gourmand, and the kind of neighborhood spot that fills steadily without needing to make a fuss about it.

  59. A yellow door on Plaza de San Juan opens into a relaxed bistro where the kitchen bounces between India, Morocco, Japan, and France without much apology. The menu is built around sharing, with sections the team have named "Bites from the World" and, for the more ambitious plates, "Something More Serious." The Michelin Guide has given it a Bib Gourmand, which tracks: this is a neighborhood spot that happens to have a genuinely restless kitchen.

  60. A cosy little restaurant in the Valencia countryside with a Nordic-inflected feel, where the kitchen runs on whatever the team foraged that morning, herbs and mushrooms included. The menu leans into regional rice dishes, among them a La Mancha gazpacho prepared as rice rather than soup, which takes some explaining and rewards the curiosity. Contemporary touches keep things from feeling like a museum. The Michelin Guide awarded it a Bib Gourmand.

    Canarian Spanish

A short walk from the Mercado de Nuestra Señora de África, this cozy restaurant earns a Michelin Bib Gourmand for cooking that moves between Canarian tradition, the chef's Cantabrian roots, and a thread of Latin American influence. The menu shifts with whatever the market offers that day, so regulars rarely order the same thing twice. Tourists find it; locals claim it anyway. The room is small and fills up, so book ahead.

Santé is a modern dining room in Leganés where embers do a lot of the work, from grilled avocado to whatever the market handed over that morning. 66. Rank 490. Saó

    Creative French

The name translates loosely as "ripeness" or "the right moment," which sets the tone for a creative restaurant in uptown Barcelona where seasonal Catalan produce gets a quietly French education. The chef spent years in Paris before bringing those instincts home, and the menu shows it without making a fuss. The Michelin Guide awarded it a Bib Gourmand. Three set menus to choose from, and the savoury crema catalana with foie is the dish people keep talking about.

    Canarian

Named for the ancient whistling language of La Gomera, this unfussy contemporary restaurant near a sports complex earns a Michelin Bib Gourmand for rooting Canarian cooking in tradition while keeping it light and precise. The chef matures the cheeses on the menu himself, and mojo sauce, that workhorse condiment of the islands, shows up with enough range here to make you reconsider what you thought you knew about it.

The open grill is the spine of everything at this informal neighborhood restaurant in Cappont, where the chef came back to Lleida after time in serious kitchens and named the place for his grandparents. The three-glass pairing here lands sherry, sake, and natural wine alongside whatever the kitchen has pulled from traditional coastal marsh gardens that day. It's a French bistro-style spot in La Latina, run by three friends who divided the duties (kitchen, floor, back office) and apparently stuck to the arrangement. 87. Two 19th-century palacete buildings stitched together and quietly turned into a boutique luxury hotel, selected by the Michelin Guide. A full recent renovation stripped out all the usual Regency fussiness and replaced it with pale woods, sliding bathroom doors, and a basement spa with a plunge pool carved into dark stone. Sixty-six rooms around central courtyards make it feel less like a city hotel than a resort, which is a neat trick in the middle of Valencia.

  88. Lorenzo Castillo's decorating brief seems to have been "French manor, English club, and Indian palace walk into a bar," and the result is 47 rooms that feel more like a collector's private house than a chain hotel, which is a minor miracle given NH is Spain's largest hotel brand. The heritage building on Carrer Colón puts you steps from the financial district and the best shopping, with a cocktail bar and a Mediterranean restaurant downstairs for the nights you don't wander far.

  89. The Hoxton landed in Poblenou, Barcelona's old industrial quarter now colonized by design studios and late-night bars, as a hotel tribute to Spanish architect Ricardo Bofill, which explains why it looks sharper than its siblings. The Michelin Guide has it among its selected hotels.

  90. Each floor of this Ruzafa hotel follows a different stage of the natural cycle, so you move from botanical wallpaper and crimson headboards on one level to terracotta cloud murals and sun-washed terraces on another. The ninth-floor restaurant, Nuvó, runs from breakfast through dinner with a Mediterranean menu and rooftop views. Ruzafa itself is one of Valencia's most restless neighborhoods, which means good bars within stumbling distance and plenty of noise if you forget to close the window.

  91. Frank Gehry designed this hotel as a winery headquarters that became too striking to keep private, and the titanium ribbons draped over the building still stop traffic in the middle of Rioja wine country. The Michelin Guide awarded it one Key.

  92. A 17-room boutique hotel in a stone convent, old enough that the beamed ceilings are an original feature rather than a design choice, sitting among vineyards and olive groves near the French border on the Costa Brava. 93. The name does most of the work: winery, spa, golf course, all on one property in the Empordà between Girona and France. It's a 55-room resort that somehow feels more boutique than sprawling, with sleek modern interiors softened by warm natural materials. Hotel Rector is a small boutique hotel with a Michelin Key and the quiet confidence of somewhere that knows its scale is a feature. 95. A 16-room boutique hotel inside a stone manor that has been standing since the 16th century, in a Rioja village small enough that the Vivanco Wine Museum is a short walk. The restaurant leans into regional Rioja cooking, and the cellar does exactly what you'd hope a cellar in wine country would do. The Michelin Guide awarded it one Key.

  96. A rooftop terrace overlooking Granada's historic center is a compelling argument for staying somewhere small. The Seda Club is a 21-room boutique hotel a short walk from the Cathedral, decorated in Art Deco lines with jewel-toned accents and herringbone floors. 97. Hand-painted tiles and bespoke fabrics fill a restored 19th-century mansion in Seville's old town, now a 26-room boutique hotel where the whole idea is that you're staying in a noble's house, not a block of rooms. The small team leans into that conceit hard, running rooftop pool afternoons into terrace cocktail hours with the kind of attention that makes you forget check-out times exist. The Michelin Guide has it among its selected hotels.

  98. A boutique guesthouse where every fabric choice traces back to 16th-century Seville's role as a trade hub for rich textiles, with a nod to Velázquez's decorative work at the Royal Alcázar woven in for good measure. Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. The places are 60% of it: the best of what's within reach, weighed by distance. The setting is the other 40%: how life goes in that country (how people rate their own lives, how long and how well they live, how safe they are) and what it's like right there (the air, and the weather). If the score looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
