  3. This is a French fine dining room on the 11th floor of a half-size Eiffel Tower, which means you eat duck confit while the Bellagio fountains do their thing below. Window tables face The Strip, and the staff has seen enough dessert proposals that a ring on a plate barely registers as news. Dress like you're being photographed, because you will be. AAA gives it Four Diamonds, and the bar handles the cheaper, quicker version.

  4. Rank 304. Valentine

    Southwestern-Sonoran

A churro waffle with a cult following and a soft pretzel served with butter blended from guinea hen fat says about everything you need to know about Valentine's priorities. This all-day cafe and restaurant in the Melrose District does wood-fired Sonoran cooking with Arizona ingredients treated like the whole point, not a talking point. The chef is a James Beard semifinalist, and the elote pasta has its own fan club. The vintage furniture store in the back is not a joke.

  5. Rank 305. Bayonet

    Seafood

Wahoo salami and cobia sausage are the calling card at this airy raw bar and seafood lunch spot in downtown Birmingham. The team behind the neighboring restaurant Helen runs it with the same eye for Gulf Coast ingredients and seasonality, turning a raw bar into something closer to a feast. The New York Times put it on their restaurant list, and the Michelin Guide awarded a Bib Gourmand. Come hungry enough for small plates and dessert.

  6. Rank 306. Chilte

    Modern Mexican

The restaurant's unofficial motto translates roughly to "I don't give a damn," which is a curious thing to post when your birria arrives in hand-pressed squid ink tortillas with miso consommé. Chilte is a modern Mexican restaurant and bar in a revamped motor hotel on Grand Avenue, and Food & Wine named the chef one of its Best New Chefs. The seasonal menu shifts often, and the team pulls in guest chefs regularly, so the room rewards repeat visits.

  7. Rank 307. Mamani

    Contemporary French

The chef behind this Contemporary French bistro spent nearly a decade running the kitchen at Restaurant Joël Robuchon in Vegas, and the sauces here will remind you why that matters. Mamani holds a Michelin star, and the room is glitzy enough to justify the à la carte prices. The menu skews shareable and French-classical: Dover sole, a veal Cordon Bleu, a Paris-Brest that arrives looking like it was sent from Paris to make a point.

  8. Anthony Mangieri runs the wood-burning oven himself, every service, at this airy Lower East Side pizza shop tiled in black and white and lined with canned tomatoes. The Neapolitan pies come out with fluffy edges and thin, papery crusts, topped with not much more than mozzarella di bufala and sweet tomato sauce, which is the whole point. A Michelin Bib Gourmand and ranked first in the country by 50 Top Pizza USA. Reservations are scarce, so arrive early and queue.

  9. Rank 309. Masseria

    Puglian Italian

A converted warehouse in NoMa where the stainless-steel open kitchen and a glass-encased wine cellar share a room with exposed brick and farmhouse warmth, somehow without contradiction. Nicholas Stefanelli's tasting menu draws on his Puglian roots, and the pasta and bread courses show it most plainly. The staff seem to genuinely enjoy being here, which guests tend to catch. A Michelin star and a spot on 50 Top Italy's global list.

  10. The antojitos here lean into Aztec culinary tradition that most Mexican restaurants skip entirely, which gives this Logan Square neighborhood spot a menu worth reading slowly. The chef has earned James Beard nominations and a Michelin Bib Gourmand while running what is, at its heart, a warm, unpretentious antojeria. Seasonal cocktails, knowledgeable servers, and a room that stays lively without tipping into loud.

  11. The line out front of this Doraville strip-mall spot does the advertising. Kamayan ATL is a Filipino neighborhood restaurant built around kamayan, the tradition of eating communally by hand, and the family-style menu leans into classics and regional dishes with equal confidence. A James Beard semifinalist, it started as a pop-up and never lost that devoted, word-of-mouth energy. Book ahead; the room is small and the fans are loyal.

  12. Rank 312. Claud

    French

A few steps below street level on East Tenth, this French-inflected New American restaurant runs on shared plates and an open kitchen that keeps the room honest. The cooking touches the familiar at a slant: grilled cabbage, tempura squash blossoms, and a six-layer chocolate cake soaked in vermouth and evaporated milk that nominally serves two. The New York Times placed it fifteenth on its list of the city's hundred best. Reservations are a project, but the bar absorbs the overflow gracefully.

  13. Rank 313. Camille

    Vietnamese-French

A multicourse tasting menu built around Vietnamese French cooking, where northern-style pho arrives as wagyu tartare in a savory broth alongside a doughnut pastry. Chef Tung Phan's Lake Baldwin fine dining room is boldly sleek, all wood accents and considered lighting, with counter seats for the full experience and booths for a shorter one. It holds a Michelin star, which makes sense once dessert channels a cheese course through red bean cake and strawberry sansho sauce.

  14. Rank 314. Commander's Palace

    Cajun & Creole

The turquoise Garden District mansion has been turning out Modern New Orleans Creole since Ella Brennan and a young Emeril Lagasse were essentially inventing the genre together. Fine dining in the grand sense, white tablecloths and all, though the room skews festive rather than stiff. Meg Bickford runs the kitchen now, keeping the cooking by turns classicist and a little bodacious. Wine Enthusiast put the cellar in its Hall of Fame, and the weekday lunch martinis go for a quarter.

  15. The electric pink neon sign is your landmark, and the shareable platters are the reason you came. This Sonoran taqueria from James Beard Award winner Rene Andrade runs on big, festive plates of ribeye or carnitas surrounded by beans, elote, and salsas, all meant to be wrapped into soft tortillas at the table. The cocktail program runs wilder than you'd expect from a taqueria. Bring people; the portions assume you did.

  16. Each month brings a single fixed menu, two entrée choices, no walk-ins, and reservations that open on Tock a few days before the month turns, so planning ahead is part of the ritual. Spencer is a neighborhood wine restaurant with family-style seating that reads less like a dining room and more like someone's very well-stocked kitchen. The wine list is a James Beard Nominee for Outstanding Wine and Other Beverages Program, and it earns the attention.

  17. Rank 317. Casa Mono

    Catalan Tapas Bar

The kitchen butchers whole animals in-house, which tells you something about how seriously this compact Spanish tapas bar on Irving Place takes its sourcing. Dishes arrive in a sensible order, not all at once, and they're sized to actually eat rather than admire. A Michelin star and a New York Times top-100 nod haven't made it precious. Order widely, resist keeping track, and plan to wish everything were slightly larger.

  18. Ignacio Mattos built this downtown bistro on shareable plates that pair ingredients in ways that seem obvious only after you've eaten them. The room on Houston stays lively without tipping into loud, and the wine list rewards a little conversation with whoever's pouring. A Michelin star and a perennial spot on the Times' best-of list haven't made it precious. The crowd dresses like it might have somewhere better to be, then stays for another round.

  19. Rank 319. Cordelia

    Burger Joint

The four-slider pull-apart smash burger, cheese skirt and all, tells you something about what Cordelia is going for: a lively, shareable, anything-goes dinner-out kind of place on East Fourth. The open kitchen is the room's centerpiece, and chef Vinnie Cimino, a Food & Wine Best New Chef and a James Beard nominee, runs a menu that shifts constantly between dips, fresh fish, and daily steak cuts.

  20. Kristi Brown's modern soul food restaurant on Capitol Hill runs on a certain gravitational pull, the kind where strangers at the bar invite you to art openings and the neck-bone stew, all smoky shredded meat and tender lima beans in a deep broth, makes conversation stop mid-sentence. The menu rotates seasonally, landing on catfish and grits or local clams in coconut milk depending on when you show up. A James Beard nominee, and on the New York Times radar too.

  21. Rank 321. Yank Sing

    Dim Sum Chinese

The carts still roll here, which is the whole point. Yank Sing is a dim sum shop in the Financial District that holds to the old push-cart service at a time when most places gave it up. Staff wear headsets and radio the kitchen when something you want hasn't come around yet, a detail that somehow makes it feel both retro and efficient. The Michelin Guide gave it a Bib Gourmand. Expect a wait at peak hours.

  22. Rank 322. Orsa & Winston

    Italian-influenced Japanese

Satsuki rice porridge finished with parmesan cream and uni tells you everything about what Josef Centeno is doing at this prix-fixe counter in Downtown LA. Italian and Japanese cooking share more DNA than people expect, and this Michelin-starred omakase-style room leans into that overlap with crudos brightened by fruit and herbs and seafood that reads Mediterranean one bite and Japanese the next. The open kitchen keeps it intimate, which is a polite way of saying you'll want to be paying attention.

  23. Rank 323. Mélisse

    Modern French

You enter through a discreet side door, which sets the tone for Josiah Citrin's long-running Santa Monica tasting menu. Inside, the room feels like a velvet underground with good silverware, and the French decadence runs toward the gratuitous side, which is the point. Tableside saucing, antique silver press, dry-aged duck, truffles on everything. Two Michelin stars.

  24. Rank 324. Akahoshi Ramen

    Japanese Noodle Shop

The chef spent a decade deep in ramen research on Reddit before opening this tiny Logan Square shop, and the menu reflects that obsessive focus: four ramens, a monthly rotating special, and nothing else. Everything, noodles through broth through tare, is made from scratch. Reservations drop and vanish within hours, which is its own kind of endorsement. Bon Appétit named it one of America's best new restaurants in 2024.

  25. Rank 325. Basta

    Contemporary Italian-American

A wood-burning oven anchors the open kitchen at this contemporary Italian-American restaurant, where concrete floors and cream walls keep things industrial without feeling cold. The bread comes from the sister bakery next door, which tells you something about how seriously the team takes the details. Family-style sharing is the move here. The Michelin Guide has given it a Bib Gourmand, and the room fills fast with people who already know the menu by heart.

  27. Rank 327. Partenope Ristorante

    Neapolitan Pizzeria

The dough here is made by hand in the Neapolitan tradition, soft enough that a margherita lands on the table looking almost too relaxed to be pizza. Partenope is a full-sit-down Italian restaurant on Main Street, the kind of place that takes its time with both the pasta and the service. It landed on 50 Top Pizza USA, which for Dallas is a meaningful data point. The room feels warm rather than scene-y, which in this city counts for something.

  28. Jordan Kahn's two-Michelin-star tasting menu operates inside a structure Culver City locals call "The Waffle," a red steel lattice that looks like it landed from somewhere with better architecture. The food inside is just as committed to the bit: courses that are visually theatrical and technically serious, edible flowers floating in tomato water, flavors that feel like they were calibrated rather than cooked. Dress accordingly; this is not a casual Tuesday.

  29. Tucked next to chef Johnny Curiel's flagship, this agave bar doubles as a serious kitchen, and the two halves push each other into strange, good territory. The mezcal list is long and thoughtful, the cocktails inventive, and the food pulls from Mexico City's restless energy with Japanese and other detours woven in. A Michelin star and a New York Times nod followed quickly. Plan around the bar counter if you can.

  30. Rank 330. Madcap

    American

The walls at this San Anselmo tasting menu spot are hung with large, deeply strange paintings, the kind that make you wonder if you've wandered into a fever dream. You haven't. Ron Siegel's eight-course prix fixe runs French and Japanese currents through a modern American frame, and the kitchen is as composed as the art is unhinged. A Michelin star, and a fraction of the price you'd pay for comparable cooking in the city.

  31. A barely-there sign on Beacon Hill marks this casual Guamanian restaurant and bar, which is either accidental humility or the universe's way of filtering out TikTokers (it has not worked). The menu follows the chef's biography through Filipino chicken adobo tacos and Guam-style corn soup, but the achiote-orange empanadas, stuffed with raisined beef and served in a pool of fina'denne', are what drew a James Beard semifinalist nod in 2025.

  32. Chef Phillip Foss lives upstairs, which pretty much sets the tone. This Michelin-starred tasting menu in a converted warehouse runs one seating a night, serves everyone at once, and asks you to bring your own wine. Guests wander into the pantry, hover next to the cooks, and eat off plates that occasionally require licking. The menu shifts constantly, but the French fries with potato leek soup and nitro-poached ice cream never leave.

  33. A neon green peace sign marks the door on a narrow Fishtown lane, and inside what used to look like an auto repair shop, the room opens into light wood and clean lines, somewhere between a pizza bar and a Scandinavian chapel. The menu is short, the dough is organic, and the crust stays crisp and chewy to the last bite. Natural wines and snacks keep you busy while you wait. A Michelin Bib Gourmand.

  35. The limestone facade on Broadway gives way to ash wood, mosaic tile, and a wide-open kitchen that runs the whole show. 36. A tasting menu that ends with an aged cheddar sundae tells you most of what you need to know. Wild Common holds a Michelin star and runs a contemporary fine dining format with a global restlessness, leaning on local ingredients without making a fuss about it. Counter seats facing the open kitchen are the move. The chef, a James Beard semifinalist, keeps the whole thing looser and more fun than the format usually allows.

  37. Rank 337. Vestige

    Japanese

A contemporary Japanese tasting menu restaurant on the Mississippi Gulf Coast sounds like a typo, but Ocean Springs has quietly harbored serious cooking for years. Vestige runs through glimmering plates of bafun uni and koji with the care of somewhere twice the size of this quaint dining room. Modern art on the walls, generously spaced tables, and staff who never make the elaborate feel intimidating. A James Beard Nominee for Outstanding Restaurant.

  38. Rank 338. Avize

    Southern Alpine

A taxidermy mountain goat watches over the dining room, which tells you most of what you need to know about the vibe. Avize is an Alpine French wine bar and restaurant where the menu pulls from France, Switzerland, Italy, and Austria, all filtered through Southern ingredients. Frog legs nod to an Atlanta wing institution. The drinks program is serious enough to earn a James Beard semifinalist nod, and North America's 50 Best ranks it at number 29.

  41. White tablecloths, glossy wood paneling, and a wine list that earned a spot in Wine Enthusiast's Restaurant Hall of Fame: Pappas Bros. is the kind of old-school steakhouse that doesn't need to update anything. Spanish

Chef Jose Salazar's tapas bar runs on small plates and a staff that functions more as a personal concierge than a waitstaff, pacing courses, pairing wines, and gently talking you into things you didn't know you wanted. The Spanish and Latin American menu moves through blistered peppers and embutidos before landing on a paella that's the exception to the small-plates rule. A James Beard nominee, and the kind of room that feels like the party started without you but will absolutely let you in.

  44. Rank 344. Starship Bagel

    NY-Style Bakery

The bagels here are kettle-boiled and hand-rolled, and the owner once won New York's Bagelfest twice, which is its own kind of declaration. This is a counter-order bagel shop with a line out the door and spreads that work for both the plain-schmear traditionalist and whoever orders the avocado toast-but-make-it-a-bagel sandwich. A James Beard nominee two years running, and on Eater's Dallas essentials list. Get there early, or just accept the wait.

  45. The corn gets roasted the day before, then ground fresh each morning for the tortillas, which tells you everything about how this East Austin taqueria operates. The menu runs on nixtamalized heirloom corn and swings between ancient technique and something like duck fat refried beans without missing a step. The chef took a James Beard Emerging Chef win and a Michelin Bib Gourmand. Come early, and come however you're dressed.

  47. Sfincione is Sicilian street food, something between focaccia and pizza, and this focacceria in the Gulch has built its entire identity around it. Terry Koval won a James Beard Award for Best Chef: Southeast, and the room earns it without trying to impress you. Cocktails lean playful, the vegetables get serious treatment, and the duck stays on the menu for good reason.

A tasting menu in a quietly understated Lower East Side room that reads far more modest than what comes out of the kitchen. Nothing announces itself loudly, which is somehow the whole point. The service knows the menu cold. It holds a Michelin star.

    Contemporary Pan-Asian

A wall of windows faces the Atlantic, which does a lot of the heavy lifting at this fine-dining room inside the Ritz-Carlton on Amelia Island. The contemporary tasting menu threads European and Asian influences, and the service team remembers returning guests by name, a small touch that lands bigger than it sounds. Book an early table if you want the sunset doing its thing behind your wine glass. AAA Five Diamonds.

The line outside this Austin BBQ shop starts forming before most people have had breakfast, which tells you something. Inside, corrugated metal and cement floors keep things honest while the board above the counter does all the talking: brisket, ribs, sausage, pulled pork, turkey. The brisket comes sliced to order, weighed, wrapped in butcher paper, and set on a blue tray. The Michelin Guide gave it a Bib Gourmand, which is a polite way of saying the wait isn't the punishment it sounds like.

  58. Cushioned chairs and walls hung with paintings and photographs give this South Loop seafood spot the feel of a 1930s Hollywood supper club, which is either kitsch or genius depending on your mood. The kitchen keeps things tighter than the decor suggests, letting quality ingredients carry seafood dishes with global influences. The Michelin Guide has it listed, and Artful Living named it one of the five most stylish restaurants in the country.

Gin barrels stacked floor to ceiling are the first thing you notice, which makes sense given that this tasting menu restaurant sits inside the Beehive Distillery. The chef pulls from French, Italian, and South American training to build a refined, locally sourced menu, and the results earned a Michelin star. Widely spaced tables and concrete floors keep the room grounded while the food goes somewhere else entirely.

  62. Rank 363. Reem’s

The mana'eesh come off a dome-shaped saj grill, thin and crisp, topped with za'atar or wrapped around sumac-marinated chicken. Reem's is a counter-service Arab bakery and café in the Mission, bright and casual, with fatayer pastries and mezze rounding out a menu that works equally well for breakfast or lunch. A James Beard nominee and a fixture on the L.A. Times' California restaurant list, it's the kind of neighborhood spot that travels without losing itself.

  64. The unmarked door on Green Street gives nothing away, which is sort of the point. Inside, a converted warehouse with wood-beamed ceilings holds a tasting menu restaurant built around a single organizing idea: every dish is either fired or chilled, and you watch the open kitchen run both with near-monastic focus. Chefs serve their own food here, no front-of-house divide. The Nordic New American cooking is ingredient-first, the room is genuinely dramatic, and the clamshell amuse-bouche is as ridiculous as it sounds.

The chef moves without hurry, and the meal opens and closes with more creativity than the spare middle suggests, ending in an apple sorbet spiked with Yamazaki whisky. A Michelin star, and a room that feels like it belongs to regulars who never told anyone about it.

  72. Rank 372. KOSAKA

    Sushi

Twelve seats at a spare counter in the West Village, soft piano overhead, and a Michelin-starred omakase where the chef sets his own pace rather than marching the whole room through each course in lockstep. 95. Rank 396. Komal

    Mexican

Fátima Juárez nixtamalizes heirloom Mexican corn every morning to produce blue, red, and yellow masa, which explains why the tortillas at this molino inside Mercado La Paloma have their own devoted following. The short menu runs through tacos, tlacoyos, and chucitos, but the molotes de plátano, plantain dumplings fried crisp around fresh quesillo and floated in mole negro, landed on the New York Times list of best dishes in the country. Michelin Bib Gourmand.

  99. The name means "far from home," which tells you something about what the chef is doing here. This central Phoenix Thai restaurant draws on Bangkok street food and the cooking of the Isan region, with a tight menu of small plates, noodles, and skewers that reads like a personal dispatch rather than a crowd-pleasing survey. The cocktail program is serious enough to make parking on this stretch of Osborn Road feel like a design choice. A James Beard semifinalist, 2024.

Eat Score

The score comes from the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin star outweighs a listicle. When you sort by what's nearby, distance changes the order, never the score.

      Stay Score

Four fifths of the score is the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin Key outweighs a listicle. The last fifth is where it is: the ranked places to eat and things to do around it, and how safe the country is. When you sort by what's nearby, distance from you changes the order, never the score.

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. The places are 60% of it: the best of what's within reach, weighed by distance. The setting is the other 40%: how life goes in that country (how people rate their own lives, how long and how well they live, how safe they are) and what it's like right there (the air, and the weather). If the score looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
