  1. Bottled sauces on a shelf near the door signal what kind of osteria this is: the food is good enough that people want to bring it home. On Beverly Blvd, Angelini has been around forever by LA standards, which is almost a punchline in a city that abandons its favorites by spring. The service runs old school and warm, and the lengthy Italian menu leans comfortably on what the regulars already know they're ordering.

  2. A converted abbey perched above the Hudson, the kind of setting that makes you feel the nuns are judging your wine order. Apropos is fine dining with a traditional American lean, accessible by train from Grand Central for those willing to make the pilgrimage. The kitchen pulls from local farms and leans into classic technique, rich braises, proper sauces, and a wine cellar that suggests someone here takes this seriously.

  3. Rank 2788. Ardor

    Vegetarian Indian

The dining room at this West Hollywood EDITION hotel restaurant looks like a luxury spa that decided to feed people: white velvet booths, staff in beige, and enough greenery to require a groundskeeper. The menu leans vegetable-forward but keeps dry-aged lamb and steaks around for the unconvinced. Prices sit firmly in hotel territory, which the hotel guests seem not to notice.

  4. Rank 2788. Ariari

    Korean

Wood paneling, banquette seating, and framed maritime art set the tone at this Korean shared-plates spot on First Avenue, where the menu orbits Busan's seaport identity. Seafood threads through nearly every dish, and the DIY gimbap with raw scallops, squid jeotgal, and apple kimchi is the kind of thing that makes a table go quiet. The cocktails are easy to linger over.

  5. Rank 2788. Au Bon Coin

    Contemporary French

Au Bon Coin is a small, contemporary French restaurant on North Broadway where the four-course meal takes a detour through Ashkenazi Jewish cooking. Gefilte fish gets the quenelle treatment, which is either a culinary identity crisis or the smartest merger in Tennessee. The room is compact and loud in the pleasant way, with a jazzy playlist, and it's a sit-down dinner that wants a reservation. The Michelin Guide lists it as a Selected Restaurant.

  6. A family Thai restaurant on the Westside where the chef took over from her parents and didn't soften a thing. The menu runs from papaya salad with a real kick to green curry made from fresh chili paste, and the kitchen will calibrate the heat if you ask nicely. The pastries are a quiet surprise, French technique folded into Thai flavors. The Thai tea flan alone justifies staying for dessert.

  7. Rank 2788. Azul

    Pan Mexican

Murals by street artist Senkoe climb the walls of this lively Pan-Mexican restaurant on a corner that the surrounding industrial stretch does nothing to prepare you for. Aqua-blue chairs, cement floors, and a DJ booth set the tone before the food arrives. The menu roams Mexico freely, and the kitchen has a flair for the dramatic. A whole grilled pineapple stuffed with octopus and Chihuahua cheese makes the point pretty quickly.

  8. The line outside most mornings tells you something about Sacramento's feelings on pancakes. Bacon & Butter is a scratch breakfast and brunch spot where the portions run large, the ingredients are noticeably fresh, and the menu hits every classic from French toast to overstuffed breakfast burritos. There's a bar doing mimosas and cocktails for the crowd that considers brunch a contact sport. The Michelin Guide has taken notice.

  9. Rank 2788. Badageoni

    Georgian Eastern European

Khachapuri, the boat-shaped bread stuffed with molten cheese and a raw egg yolk you stir together yourself, is reason enough to make the drive to this Georgian restaurant in Mount Kisco. The room is warm and unfussy, Edison bulbs over dark wood, and the menu reads like a gentle introduction to a cuisine most tables are encountering for the first time. Ground lamb kebabs wrapped in lavash show up at nearly every table.

  10. Rank 2788. Ballato

    Italian-American

The gold-and-red-etched window on Houston reads like a dare, and plenty of people fail it, assuming red-sauce cliché and walking on. Inside, the space is narrow and weathered, and the family crew runs it with the kind of unhurried warmth that suggests nobody's leaving hungry or in a hurry. It's an old-school Italian-American restaurant, the sort where the cacio e pepe and cannoli are doing the heavy lifting without making a fuss about it.

  11. Leather booths, black-and-white marble floors, and a lighting level that discourages reading the wine list, all by design. This French bistro and wine bar in Tampa leans into the moody Parisian template without apology, anchoring the menu in house-made cheese and charcuterie before moving on to steak frites and boeuf bourguignon. The kind of room where ordering duck confit feels like the obvious and correct decision.

  12. Whitewashed walls double as wine storage at this Mount Morris Park neighborhood restaurant, which means bottles follow you from the bar's communal table all the way to the quieter back dining room. The menu resists any single label, moving between quinoa salads and ricotta ravioli in beurre blanc without obvious anxiety about consistency. Brownstone-stroller crowd, relaxed pace.

  13. Rank 2788. Barbareño

    Californian

Smoke is the tell here, drifting from the kitchen toward a covered patio just off downtown Santa Barbara. This is a casual New American restaurant where the small-plates menu leans hard into California without apologizing for it, grilled avocado included. The cooking has a playful streak, cornmeal blini piped with whipped cheese foam and grated cured egg yolk being the kind of dish that sounds like a joke until it arrives and isn't.

  14. A converted barn in Healdsburg wine country that somehow pulls off "stylish without trying" better than most places that are trying very hard. Barndiva is a farm-to-table New American restaurant where the kitchen builds its menu around what's peak right now, sourced close enough that the produce barely has a commute. The room fills with a well-dressed Sonoma County crowd who have strong opinions about asparagus varietals.

  15. Rank 2788. Barsotti's

    Italian

Black-and-white floors and a curved bar overlooking an open kitchen set the mood at this Oak Lawn trattoria. Homemade pasta is the point, from spaghetti with meatballs to lasagna Bolognese, backed by an all-Italian wine list. The room is bright and lively, the kind of neighborhood spot where the menu reads short because the kitchen means it. A Michelin Selected Restaurant.

  16. Rank 2788. Bayan Ko

    Cuban

A tasting menu format in a cozy Ravenswood dining room where Cuban and Filipino cooking share the same plate, cooked by a husband-and-wife team working through both heritages on their own terms. Wagyu stands in for vaca frita, and arroz caldo gets lobster poached in calamansi butter. None of it reads as fusion tourism; it reads as two people cooking what they actually know. Their diner next door handles the casual lumpia crowd.

  17. Rank 2788. Beity

    Lebanese

Stone walls, an arched ceiling, and a lower level with its own fireplace make this Lebanese restaurant feel more like a Beirut cellar than a Fulton Market address. The chef draws on family recipes for his mezze and tasting menu, moving through charred pita and parsley hummus before landing on stylized takes on traditional stews and fish dishes. The bar pours cocktails built around arak and tahini for a shorter, looser visit.

  18. Low lighting and large paintings set a chic tone at this upscale Italian spot in Newport Beach, where the open kitchen pulls the room's attention without trying too hard. The chef comes from a lineage of cooks and farmers in southern Italy, and the menu moves between wood-fired pizzas and house-made pasta, with tiramisu to close things out. 19. Rank 2788. Bibi Ji

    Indian

The name is spelled out in pink on the façade, which tells you something about the energy inside. Bibi Ji is a shareable Indian restaurant with vaulted ceilings, chandeliers, and a leafy patio that fills up fast on warm evenings. The cooking leans bold and spiced without apology, and co-owner Rajat Parr has stocked the list with natural wines that suit the mood. Dessert, by all accounts, is an afterthought, and nobody seems to mind.

  20. Plastic tablecloths in bright, clashing colors cover the picnic tables at this casual Thai spot on Telegraph, where the vibe reads roadside Bangkok and the food backs it up. Northeastern specialties anchor the menu, including grilled meats and green papaya somtum in Thai or Lao style. The kitchen takes spice requests seriously, so having a cold Singha within reach is less optional than it sounds. The mango sticky rice at the end is the kind of thing you eat slowly.

  21. The menu has exactly one protein, and the place is named after it. This casual taqueria built its following on birria, the slow-braised beef that started on a food truck before the team landed a brick-and-mortar spot on Rosedale. 22. Rank 2788. Bistro BT

    Vietnamese French

BT Nguyen's bistro on Henderson splits its menu between French classics and Vietnamese cooking, and the Vietnamese side does the heavier lifting. The room feels genuinely casual without being careless, and the servers seem to know everyone. Pho comes aromatic and generous, spring rolls arrive packed tight with ground pork and glass noodles. The amber glow and dramatic ceiling make Calle Ocho feel like another city entirely once the door closes. This is a contemporary Mexican restaurant with a South Florida accent, where the kitchen folds king crab and ikura into the menu as casually as it handles lamb barbacoa with house-made corn tortillas. A well-stocked bar anchors the room, and the dessert cart has the confidence to finish things with black truffle.

A charred biscuit under bone marrow and black pepper gravy is a reasonable reason to track down a strip mall. Bitterroot is a casual, farm-to-table Southern spot with concrete floors, wood beams, and marble tables giving it an easygoing country-modern feel. Gulf shrimp and grits and a sweet tea pork chop carry dinner, and the pecan pie with brown butter ice cream is not optional. The Michelin Guide has it listed.

  25. The scarpinocc, a clog-shaped pasta filled with sweet potato, parmesan, and ricotta in brown butter sage, tells you where this contemporary shared-plates restaurant puts its energy. Part of the Seven Hills Hospitality Group, the Tallahassee spot has an industrial-chic room and a first-come, first-served policy that keeps things loose. Pastas come in half portions so you can range widely, which is the right call.

Roosters wander the courtyard of this beloved all-day Key West diner, which tells you something about the vibe before you've even sat down. 27. Rank 2788. Bolivian Llama Party

    Latin American

Bolivian pop music at full volume is the first thing you notice, the second being the line of regulars who already know their order. This tiny Woodside counter serves Bolivian street food and traditional dishes, with saltenas, the crimped pastry pockets full of soupy chicken or beef filling, doing a lot of the convincing. The peanut soup is as comforting as it sounds, and the fried chicken sandwich brings genuine heat.

  28. The hotel's kitchen gardens supply much of what lands on the prix-fixe menu here, so dinner reads like a polite inventory of Anderson Valley. The chef keeps things simple and seasonal, coaxing good produce into dishes that feel effortless rather than labored. 29. Rank 2788. Bouchon

    French

Red velvet booths, marble tables, and polished brass in the middle of wine country: Thomas Keller's French bistro in Yountville plays it straight, no California detours. The menu runs through the classics with conviction, from salade lyonnaise to boudin blanc to profiteroles. The bakery next door draws its own line out the door most mornings. It's the kind of indulgence that doesn't apologize for itself, which, in a town this precious, feels almost radical.

The name promises a brewery, and the beers deliver, but there's not a burger in sight: this is a Chinese bistro serving dim sum and family-style plates, with local flowers, crafts, and secondhand books arranged around the room for browsing before or after. 47. The velvet-curtained windows and chandelier glow of this French bistro on Taylor Street have been drawing nostalgic expats and neighborhood regulars for what feels like forever. A cozy back bar invites lingering, but the real draw is the dining room, where frogs' legs Provençale and a properly Gruyère-blanketed French onion soup anchor a menu of classic French cooking with the odd global detour. 48. Rank 2788. Chiang Rai

    Northern Thai

The facade is aggressively nondescript, which means most people walk right past a Northern Thai restaurant that the Michelin Guide has quietly noted. Inside, the room goes full color and quirk. The menu is long, but the Chiang Rai Local Food section is where to spend your attention. The kitchen defaults to gentle heat, so speak up if you want the real thing. The khao soi here swaps the usual chicken for thin-sliced raw ribeye, finished tableside by the hot broth.

  94. The strip mall setting hides nothing, which is sort of the point: a Sichuan Chinese restaurant in Tampa that saves its drama for the plate. The menu pulls from classic Sichuan technique and the northeastern Chinese heritage of the team, so the range runs wider than you might expect. Portions are serious, and the dry-fried chicken buried in chilies and peppercorns is not subtle. Come hungry and possibly with a cold drink already in hand.

  95. The team is up before dawn baking trays of fat, fluffy focaccia, and everything else follows from that. This is a sandwich counter, a focaccia-forward one, where the bread lands somewhere between pillow and slab and carries fillings like prime rib with smoked horseradish cream. Half portions exist for those who haven't cleared their schedule. A few outdoor tables and some counter seats round out what is a charmingly low-frills operation. The Michelin Guide has it listed.

  96. Rank 2788. Food Terminal

    Malaysian

Exposed ducts, charcoal-gray walls, and metal chairs set the tone at this Malaysian street food restaurant on Buford Highway, designed to feel like a night market and largely succeeding. The menu is enormous, the portions match it, and everything is built for sharing. The Michelin Guide has it listed, which tracks for a place this comfortable feeding a table of eight without breaking a sweat.

    Italian

Pasta is the whole point at this cozy Lower East Side fine dining spot, and the set menu makes no apologies for it. Fried cacio e pepe risotto supplì show up early and disappear fast, but the real argument is the agnolotti packed with short rib and tossed in butter. Focaccia arrives warm, the room stays small, and weeknight cooking classes mean the regulars are occasionally trying to take the place home with them.

  98. Rank 2788. Fortu

    Pan-Asian

Pan-Asian dining room at the base of the Ponce de Leon Hotel, with arched mirrors, warm wood, and the kind of sleek lighting that makes everyone look like they made a reservation months ago. The kitchen leans hard into contrast: spicy pork wontons with crispy garlic, carrots in kimchi butter, and Japanese A5 wagyu that quietly upstages every steakhouse nearby. The Michelin Guide has it on their radar.

  99. Rank 2788. Four by Brother Luck

    Modern American

The name is the first thing to deal with: the chef goes by Brother Luck, and the "four" is the number of courses on the prix fixe menu. This is a sit-down dinner of modern Southwestern cooking on Tejon Street, with rabbit, duck, and Colorado lamb in the mix. The service is folksy and the cocktails are inventive, so dress like you're going somewhere but not somewhere stiff. It's a Michelin Guide selected restaurant.

  100. Rank 2788. Frances

    Seasonal Mediterranean

Melissa Perello's neighborhood restaurant on 17th Street is the kind of place that makes you resent everyone who lives within walking distance. The menu is hyper-seasonal and leans Californian-Mediterranean, served family style, with house-made pastas and roasted vegetables doing the heavy lifting instead of anything that comes out of a squeeze bottle. Reservations are genuinely hard to get, but the room is warm and the staff acts like they mean it.

Eat Score

The score comes from the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin star outweighs a listicle. When you sort by what's nearby, distance changes the order, never the score.

      Stay Score

Four fifths of the score is the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin Key outweighs a listicle. The last fifth is where it is: the ranked places to eat and things to do around it, and how safe the country is. When you sort by what's nearby, distance from you changes the order, never the score.

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. The places are 60% of it: the best of what's within reach, weighed by distance. The setting is the other 40%: how life goes in that country (how people rate their own lives, how long and how well they live, how safe they are) and what it's like right there (the air, and the weather). If the score looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
